Low Profile Graphic Card / GTX 1650 GDDR 6

Hi all,

Just wondering if someone can guide me about a graphic card for a M93P lenovo ssf device. I am planning to make it a budget gaming pc for my son. Specs are as follows:
Cpu: i7 4790
Ram : DDR 3 16 GB
Current graphic geforce GT 620
120 GB SSD + 500 GB HDD

Original psu is 240w and I was planning to buy a 300w psu but I have heard people using gtx 1050 ti LP on it with no issue.
On the spec says PCI Express 16 power is limited to 40w but in some forums people say it can go higher with better psu, not sure about that.
Has anyone had this machine and was able to put 1050 ti or 1650 LP on it?
Second question is NVIDIA is changing all productions to GDDR6 and there will be a 1650 GDDR6 LP and OC LP version released soon, with marginal difference between 1050 TI and 1650 GDDR5, is it worth to wait for the release of GDDR6 version of GTX1650 LP? Or OC version ? Would M93P support it (it requires 75w and 350w psu)?

Thanks in advance,

Buy the GTX1650. If it works, great. If it doesn't, sell the PC and buy something more suitable.

    I've got a MSI GTX 1650 Low Profile in a system with similar specs (HP Elitedesk 800 G1 - i7 4770, 16GB DDR etc).
Works fine - I was a bit concerned if the 240w PSU would handle it as it's SFF (Small form factor) but it's stable and works fine.

That’s great, so I don’t even have to buy a 300w psu. Will give it a go, thanks

      • Yep - no issues with stability in games or even benchmarking.

Based on what you are planning to do, I'd recommend having a read of this article https://www.techspot.com/article/1841-gpu-cheap-oem-pc/
You may find that your CPU will limit the performance of the GTX 1650 LP in some games. I've got an i7 4770 in my machine so I don't think it would experience the same issue.

Quoting from the article:"However, right away we noticed this thing was really slow, really sluggish to load games, and then super stuttery for the first 30-60 seconds we ran a test, After that it was okay, but not great. Not what you’d expect from a Haswell quad-core that runs at an all-core clock speed of 3.7 GHz."

I definitely don't suffer from that issue with my i7.

        • Very interesting, will go ahead with gtx 1650 possibly see how it goes, may put a seasonic ss-300tfx psu in too.
          Thank you 🙏🏼

    • i have got the same HP Elitedesk 800 g1 with i7 4770 as well, also i am looking for the graphic card that fit the case but not sure the psu can handle it or not. Apart from the GTX 1650 LP, can i buy the GTX 1050 ti LP ?
