    I've used that type of charger (with higher output) for years, before buying this excellent charger.

    Kmart one is like a 12V 2Amp plug pack with leads that clip on the battery. That's about as basic (low powered) charger as available. It should do the job.

    You need to disconnect the charger after a time of charging, or the battery could be damaged. I put mine on a timer.

    This one can be permanently connected to the battery (the lead unclips) & the smart circuitry changes the charging as required. My car is not used regularly - so that's an advantage to keep it charged.
    Output is 5Amps. Kmart one is 2Amps - a slower charger.

    Bought mine on sale at Repco for $89 in December with handy accessories & PowerBank.

        Awesome, just bought it. Better than the ctek charger;although ctek stuff is great… This charger also does Li-ion and BT. I have a victron BT power monitor and it's fantastic. Thanks heaps for the heads up

          @51kabunka: I've got this, a couple of Victron MPPTs and an Inverter from them. The bluetooth makes the deal so much sweeter. And the prices are comparable to standard products without the bluetooth. Quality products.
