I missed last time 40% off HP promotion. Just find that the blue one is available on their website again. I asked whether the 40% off for education was still available via live chat because I entered the education portal found that the price was still $2,999 and no promotion code available. After I verify the education email, it worked. Paid $1,799.42 for it via the phone. Although the website said it will be delivered in 15 business days, the sales cannot guarantee the specific delivery time frame due to the situation in China. It should be work if you can access to HP Corporate Employee Purchase Portal or Education Portal.

  • How did they verify the Education related email?

    • Sign in your .edu.au email account and send an email to the live chat sales working email.

      • Can't see live chat sales currently. Is it during business hours only that they're active?

        • I think live chat available between 9am-7pm, Monday-Friday. You can try tomorrow. Good luck.

  • Any chance you would be willing to share your invoice from todays success?

I tried this yesterday with the blue i5 variant and they weren't having a bar of it!

It would be much easier to convince someone on phone or chat it is ok to do if I could show them a receipt and say you guys are already doing it.

    PM me

  • I know in ultrabooks it is the trend but why only 2 T3 ports and that is it..? Hate carrying dongles…

    • Did you read the post?

      • Yeah I did. I was after a HDMI port to connect to a monitor at times.

I did miss to quote the other USB 3.1.

        • I would not offer up any feature or space for an HDMI port on an ultraportable. This one has perfect amount of ports IMO

  • I thought the screen is supposed to be 4K?

    • 4k OLED one has a 512GB SSD.

This one is FHD and 1TB SSD.

  • Is it possible to increase the RAM in these, some places say they're soldered on, others say it's doable?

    • +1

You can. It's a little fiddly though. Some youtubers/reddit users have done it.

I wouldn't recommend HP even at this price. I bought a similar laptop but with slightly lower specs with one of these deals last year. The laptop suffered a major failure within the first few months and it took a month for them to repair. Then recently, the screen suffered a major failure and by this point I don't want any more repairs - This is the only laptop I've ever bought that broke so badly twice within the first year.

Here comes the worse part - HP kept trying to misrepresent my consumer rights when I tried to get a refund. At first they wouldn't even offer me a replacement; they would only repair the laptop as it is almost 1 year old. Only after mentioning the ACCC did they finally try to offer a replacement but still pressed on multiple occasions that that was the only recourse available to me in different variances (they offered to replace with an identical model, then replace with a different model of equivalent specs). Finally, after explicitly telling them not to misrepresent my rights under Australian Consumer Law, they said they will work towards getting me a refund.

Side note- the other reason I don't want a replacement is because my friend also bought from this deal, and as soon as they took his money, they emailed him saying they don't have stock and delivery times is uncertain because of the coronavirus. There were no indications about it until AFTER the purchase.

And then the refund offer finally came, and they had the audacity to try to sneak in a non-disclosure condition in exchange for their benevolent offer to give me MY money back. FYI, it's illegal under the ACL for companies to misrepresent your rights or to water down your rights under the ACL. They can't go "I'll only let you let you exercise your rights on these conditions".

I only know this because of my legal background - I imagine a lot of students, to which this deal is directed towards, wouldn't be as aware and would just follow whatever the HP rep says they can and can't do.

(profanity) HP. They should give my money AND a new laptop just for the trouble they caused.

I made an account just to say this.

    • With you having a legal background… Have you tried exercising your ACCC rights when the retailer takes you in a delaying rollercoaster ride.. it's so easy for many people to flex their biceps quoting ACCC consumer rights.

But when U get a retailer like CPL in North melb who are the owners U r dealing with and don't really care about clients.. There were so many people I've had to go through… Talk talk talk. and eventually had to take CPL to small claims tribunal to get my money back. They didn't bother turning up anyways and they delayed further the refund process. Suits them right now their biz is doing so poorly at the North melb move.

  • Just ordered.
    1 month wait apparently

    • I got my order updated. Estimated delivery date will be 24th March.

  • I was told the following on chat: "Yes. For those 10th gen models they are no longer under to any discount as of now as HP still waiting for their availability."

    • I guess they might realize that this product was cheaper than their 8th gen i7 products. If HP continue selling the new model with 40% off, nobody gonna purchase their old stocks.

I jumped on live chat this morning.
This person by the name of Dexter (who also refused the previous deal) refused it by saying it's no longer available and cannot be ordered.

When I questioned him about why the website say 10-15 business days for delivery, he couldn't give me a proper answer.

I then phoned up and ordered it through there using as a Corporate customer and it was put through without hassle. I work for a big 4 bank who are not associated with HP but with Lenovo instead. They just noted it down

      • I agree, Dexter is useless

      • +1

I had no problems with dexter when I placed my order seems weird

        • edit dexter is an clown told me my order had been editted which it had not lied multiple times to me saying id receive and updated email still waiting about to cancel my order and spend my money elsewhere

  • Ordered the 2TB 4K AMOLED model 2 weeks ago and latest delivery update claims 13th of March. We'll see, fingers crossed!
Ps. I knew when ordering there might be delivery delays.

    • Congratulations. I missed that promotion last time. But I didn't see the 2TB 4K OLED one. I only see the 512GB 4K OLED one on HP website. And I didn't know that you could pre-order the products even it was out of stock. But I am concerning the battery life on the OLED. One day I saw the full HD 8+512 version in Harvard Norman. The screen was great compared to the other Full HD laptops there. So I decided to buy the FHD one and I am lucky that the blue one back again.

      • Just received mine a few days back and man, this blue is so slick. I had the the first gen gem cut in blue and that ate finger prints.Love this new blue!

Haven't had it long enough to make a full judgement but by the looks of it, comparing to my Gen8 FHD spectre, it seems to be quite a difference in battery life (and then I should add that the FHD one even is about a year old now). Another thing i find a bit annoying is that the HDR control seems dodgy and sometimes doesn't revert back to normal after streaming or gaming, and leaves the contrast all jumbled and I can't see shit cause everything is too bright.
Also the panel has some annoying diamond-like patterns on it (similar to those seen in the SureView models). You can't really see it when it's dark or shaded color but definitely visible on brighter colors.

      • Yeah I was able to pre-order one. But should also mention that I have genuine access to the employee discount

  • What are the main technical differences between this model and the one that was posted a few days ago under https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/521329?

The other one had an original price of $3,599 and this one is $2,999.

    • Same model and spec

    • The $3599 one have built-in 4G LTE and its colour is black. I guess the built-in 4G LTE maybe like e-sim. It stated as Intel® XMM™ 7560 LTE-Advanced Pro.

  • This deal has not expired I was able to place an order this morning

    • Hey mate. I just pay $359.98 difference to upgrade to 2TB SSD and 4K OLED model with same colour. Because they got stock and ready to ship now.And they still cannot confirm when this post one will come.

      • I got a feeling they just lying to everyone

        • I am not sure.I am a little bit worry about it. I don't want to wait that long because the Ryzen 4000 series is coming soon. So I check the website and upgrate to a in stock one which I saw the status was ships in 4-6 weeks few days ago. That was weird. Normally if there are new stocks coming, they will mark it ships in 5-10 business days which means the stock in on the way. But the status of 4K OLED + 2TB one just suddenly change from ships in 4-6 weeks to in stock. Sounds like their stocks coming randomly. But I will see what will happen as the 2TB + 4K OLED one was in stock now.I think they will ship soon.

          • @Wayne30: I'm going to give them till 2nd week of April and if nothing has shipped I'll refund my order

HP are a really really dodgy company! I ordered a OzBargain laptop, paid, and then was told it wasn't available. And then the fun (not!) started. They offered a replacement model, which I accepted. But then was told it would take 15 days. I agreed. But then after 15 days and no laptop I contacted them and told it would take another month! I cancelled the order and requested a refund. Another 2 weeks , and no refund, and I contacted them again to be told that the order had not been cancelled. So I cancelled it again. But when I rang their complaints I was told that it still hadn't been cancelled. To cut a long story short I have opened a Paypal dispute and reported them to Fair Trading but beware - they are really really dodgy!

    • seems your the only smart one here

  • I wonder what's the difference between this and the aw0111tu model posted previously to this one. Seems like this one is exactly the same but has 32gb of Opane storage (listed in the description) however the retail is $800 less??? Can anybody explain please.

    • an answer to my own question - both models are the same the aw0111tu just has 4g LTE connection and both are confirmed to have Intel Opane.

  • so got an email from hp today This is just to confirm that the order that you have placed on March 8, 2020 for the HP Spectre x360 - 13-aw0119tu has been replaced with the HP Spectre x360 - 13-aw0111tu.
