    • How did you come up with the 40% ratio?!

      • +3

He surveyed 90% of Ozbargainers and came to the conclusion that 100% of them need more than 39% savings to make overseas purchases worthwhile.

Cos almost everything in Amazon is cheaper than Australia, I bought a lot of things from Amazon include Bluetooth headset, textbook, cables, calculators…Most of them are more than 50% cheaper than Australia and you can save even more on postage if you buy several things, If that is kind of "bargain information" you need, just search anything on Amazon yourself, as long as it could be shipped to AU, you can save!!

Here is some example: Jabra stone 2 Bluetooth headset, AUD145 at Dicksmith, USD66.63 at Amazon
Belkin HDMI to HDMI cable: AUD60 in officeworks, USD8.99 at Amazon,
          ……

If you like this kind of information, just go and buy it!

    • Why can't you compare Aus to Amazon? Are you Gerry Harvey?

      • +11

        No he is not!

        • Cue Eminem…

Would the real Gerry Harvey please stand up…

Welcome to Internet Shopping and Ozbargain.

I was puzzled by "atomic", wondered if the watch is radioactive. But the explanation is that these watches can receive radio time broadcasts and sync with official (atomic standard) clocks:

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Casio_Wave_Ceptor

But if you carry a smartphone around, that's probably synced to Internet time anyway. Cute watch, but the cheapskate in me says hang on to the money. :)

    • I'm sure this solar powered watch would come in handy if your smartphone runs out of juice :)

But you won't be able to make a phone call on this watch. :)

Anyone has a clue whether this waveceptor watch really works in Oz?
As I assume that this watch is for US market, it might be set to receive US atomic clock broadcaster (only). AFAIK, the nearest atomic clock broadcaster can be found from here is in Japan.

  • Killer watch for the price even if the atomic time sync doesn't work.

  • very good deal. you can only buy rubbish watch in Australia with $60.thank you op.

did you copy paste that? or did you type that all out 3 times?

    • Flawed argument, here's why:

      1. If you've seen so many great deals on Amazon why have you not shared them with Ozbargain?

      2. The examples you've listed are poor. Jabara Stone 2 on Amazon can not be directly delivered to Australia whereas this watch can. Not all Amazon items can be delivered to Australia directly.

      3. Secondly the Jabara can be purchased on Ebay for around the same price, again you can't with this watch.

      4. Who would buy Belkin HDMI cables anyways? Extremely overpriced, you can get cheaper ones which gives you the exact same outcomes locally

      5. This Casio watch has just dropped to it's all time low in terms of price, refer to:
        http://thetracktor.com/detail/B0018747QW/
Even if you compare it against other US websites it's cheaper:
        http://www.pricetrace.com/?do=search&keywords=WVA470J-1ACF&t…

Which makes it a good deal (hence the first batch has sold out), even in the US let alone Australia with very reasonable delivery charges

  • This would have been really cool 20 years ago, before we had mobile phones that sync with the network.
(And now my phone runs ntpd.)
But no matter how accurate my watch, I'm still late for everything.

    • same here.. I normally keep my watch advance by 5 - 10 mins. I still miss the train. If the watch sync up to the correct time automatically.. it'll be a very bad feature for you and me.. it's not suitable for us :D

  • This does look pretty great :) It's a shame the version with a stainless band is so much more - I'm a sucker for stainless bands.

I'll defeinitely look to Amazon next time I upgrade my watch.

  • "Casio Men's WVA470J-1ACF Waveceptor Solar Atomic Ana-Digi Sport Watch cannot be shipped to the selected address."

Um..? Using my normal Australian address, unless I'm missing something, there's no mention of mail forwarders in the OP.

    • The first batch of these have sold out I think, but if you go to the Amazon page, on the right hand side you'll see "More Buying Choices", select the Amazon.com add to car, as Amazon delivers directly to Australia (for this item anyways)

However… the second batch looks like it will only arrive at the end of the month

  • for me it shows $83.81 not 67 :(

  • Shipping time from Amazon?

  • Guys, sold out @ yesterday's $57.99 USD:

    http://thetracktor.com/detail/B0018747QW/

    Up to $73 now

    • $105.50 now, didn't know prices changed so much
