Please Suggest Best Internet Security/Anti-Virus/Anti-Malware

Hi OzBargainers,
What is the best Internet Security/Anti-Virus/Anti-Malware solution to protect our hard-earned + hard-saved (thanks OzBargain) money and data.
I have 1 x Windows 10 PC and 2 Android phones in my family.
Are there any package deals out there?
Doesn't have to be the cheapest but shouldn't be a rip-off either.

    Webroot

Definitely not recommended. Webroot failed to detect trojans and malware on my friends work laptop that were propagating through shared PDF files.

If you want to use something other than MSE, try the free edition of Bitdefender. Great performance and top ratings for detecting malware. Avira also gets top marks.

I use Malwarebytes on all my devices. But Bitdefender is one of the best out there in terms of its database and speed.

Best not to visit porn sites. You'll get a virus and go blind

Windows Security is free & built into Windows 10. Malwarebytes is good too.

Always check that your programs & operating systems are up to date.

Don't use the same password across different sites, use a password manager and turn on two factor authentication where available eg. banking, email & social media.

Make regular backups of your data to the cloud or offsite external drives.

  • Sophos Home and Malwarebytes for me.

  • The best product? Sophos with Intercept X. I've never seen it fail against ransomware unlike a lot of other big brand products. Predominantly used in business and enterprise though.

    Common Sense.

Ah yes, those 0day exploits are no match for my common sense!

Everyone has their favourite which is 'better' than all the rest. There's not that much difference between them so 1 option is to try the free versions of as many as you can to find out which one you prefer. (1 at a time)

You don't have to buy your AV, the free versions usually are good enough for the average user.

If you decide to buy, the cheapest AV software is from

    https://www.saveonit.com.au/products/index/2330

Their prices seem to good to be true but they are true. I buy all my AV products from them.

I've used save on it for years. They're legit

    • +1

Been buying there for home and business for years with zero problems.

  • NOD32 + Malwarebytes or Kapersky. There's been deals posted recently for all three.

  • If you don't visit iffy sites or download iffy stuff, Windoze Defender does OK with Malware-bytes free as an anti malware as malware & antivirus are 2 different things & require 2 different programs. If you want to pay for peace of mind, use Norton. It is light on everything, tech support is the best. I don't need tech support & I like to play with settings so I use Kaspersky. Bitdefender is another grouse one

Windows defender in winX, free and one of the best

    • woah that's a great deal, i usually buy the internet security for $30

  • Eset Internet security is what I use on Windows. Usually some deals on saveonit, etc. ($8.80 for 3 devices/1 year, etc)

Don't think anything is needed on android.

  • Malwarebytes is all you need. Literally every other piece of software is irrelevant and overpriced.

  • Bitdefender 2020 has a 90 Day trial.

    90 Day bitdefender trial link

  • If you can afford, get BitDefender.
If not, Windows Defender + Malwarebytes Pro should cover 99% of use case.

    • why does malwarebytes pro reduce windows defender cover by 1%?

  • Using Bitdefender for almost 5 years and for me it works.
