  • FYI, in case anyone is unaware, AIWA closed in 2008. No AIWA TVs have been made since.
Now it is just a badge for rent on yumcha products.

In Australia, importer is Yale Prima, a "company known to the ACCC".

edit: just realised this is Android for phones, not Android TV.
Ugh! Am going to have to neg it now. Hope poster does not take it personally.

If you must buy this, get an external smart box such as Voda TV.

Not at all. I welcome all informed comments for the benefit of everyone. Keep in mind it is build to a budget, and cannot be compared with $1k screens from Samsung, LG, Sony etc… Some people may just want a cheap 4K tv for their man caves or shops.

Yes, thanks for your efforts. It looked like a good deal until I saw it was not Android TV.
Does it even do HD Netflix? I note it does not come with Netflix installed.

I'm just thinking better to get a slightly smaller 50" with real Android TV, longer warranty.
Though you may be waiting a while for all those in one deal, we have seen some decent 50" models under $400. (And ALDI 55"?)

        • Do you know a good cheap 50 inch TV mostly for watching Kayo? (dont really want an external box with extra remote complicating things for elderly relative). Cheers

          • @Pimpiticians 4 Life: Not familiar with Kayo, but this looked reasonable:

            • @bargaino: So hold on, what’s your opinion based on? So quick to neg! IMO is a 55” TV for 399 - you’re not going to get bIg brand quality. This will definitely be a deal for some, if not for you then no one cares about your neg.

              does not come with netflix

Ah, you get it from the Play store. It’s an Android Tv. Same with Kayo.

              • @ajole:

                It’s an Android Tv.

No it is NOT. That is the whole problem. The EKO linked above is a genuine one though.
This is junk at any price. But there do seem to be some decent 50" models at this price coming up regularly: Soniq, Kogan, ALDI, TCL, …

  • Also what version of android comes preinstalled, if anyone can confirm?

    • In the description above :)

      Android 7! Unbelievable.

And isn't an inbuilt soundbar just a speaker?!

      • From what I read online, it is a sound bar designed to a budget (multiple speakers with extra bass etc).

These are crap. Major ghosting and light bleed. The display model in my local was broken down!

  • I think I’ll skip this one.

  • Just a word of warning, as it looks like this formerly well known brand is rubbish.
My mate bought 55" AIWA TV from Harvey Norman last year. Yellow colour looked muddy greenish. He exchanged it and brought home new unit just to find out that it was even worse. So he had to take it back for refund.
He then bought Sonic from Office Works which works perfectly well.

    • Thanks. I’ll get the Blaupunkt from Officeworks

  • If you are only watching free to air TV is there any point getting 4K (aside from future proffing maybe)?
Perhaps a FHD TV would actually give you a better picture?

    • Your questions make little sense to me. Would you not prefer to watch free to air in 4K instead of FHD? If so then please see a doctor.

      • Sorry, I didn't realise that free to air was broadcast in 4K.

        • It’s not currently though the new TV standard does support it in the near future. I was referring to current hardware technology that can upscale FHD to near 4K resolution - some smart TVs and media streaming devices have this built in.

    • I don't think they still sell fhd TV's?
