How's this a bargain? Also, warranty support would be an issue as you have to deal directly with Amazon US…

this phone is not worth 900 aud imo.

The Xperia 1 ticks a lot of specific boxes that others do not.

IP58, near stock Android, Optical zoom, Dual Sim, Not a Samsung.

Sony have pulled out of mobile market in Australia. Not a deal and definitely not worth the hassle.

  • Sony have a bad record of dropping all support & updates for their phones & tablets without explanation.

    • I had an Xperia Z4 and was a beautiful piece of technology. It's dropped on the street so many times I was cringing every time fear but it soldiered on like a champ, not even a crack. until it turned off while charging one day and wouldn't turn back on. no spare parts, no support, nothing.
it's understandable the warranty here drives people away.

      • Same here, but with a Z5. I only just replaced it, and only with a stop gap Mi 9T.

I'm hankering for a Xperia 1 II, maybe even a Xperia 10 II, but not at the prices they are being touted at.

        • You should try One plus 8 series..

Currently i have a XZ1, just waiting for OP 4G version to get released.

          • @APN Adelaide: My wife has a OP5 (not the T, no not the T) and it has served her well to this point, so it isn't outside the bounds of seeing what RDJ has for us.

    • I didn't know this. Can you please share some examples? I'm aware they pulled out of the Australian market, but they've also stated that they will continue to honour all warranties locally, right?

I'd rather buy a OnePlus phone if I'm going the grey import route and buy local stock of the earphones and I still get spare change.
