Help Me Decide 65" TV - Hisense or Sony

Hi guys,

I'm looking to get a 65" TV at the moment mainly to watch netflix and sometimes to play PS4

I've narrowed down my option to

SONY KD65X8500G 65" X85G – manufactured refurbished from ebay for $1,399
https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/SONY-KD65X8500G-65-X85G-LED-4K-U…

or

Hisense 65" R8 4K UHD SMART ULED TV – brand new for $1,184
https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/65R8-Hisense-65-R8-4K-UHD-SMART-…

What do you guys think about these two? Which one is better?

I am also open to any suggestion

Thanks guys!

  • I'd go R8

  • Hisense with their ultra dimming zones would be good.

  • If you can afford Sony go for it

  • +3

Hisense are rubbish plain and simple.. always have been

Along with being top quality TV's Sony have exceptional after sales service

i worked for an Authorised service centre in Vic for 3.5 years and we dealt with most brands for warranty. (Sony, Samsung, Panasonic, Hisense and others) and Sony were by far the best
They would often go out of their way to help customers even those out of warranty by some time. If they did not offer to replace a non economical repair fault they would usually offer a newer model at a massive discount

We saw a LOT of Hisense TV's come with simple faults that would be covered under warranty but Hisense would take weeks to supply parts etc leading to an awful customer experience
they would also require parts from broken tv's be used where possible. VS Sony would always supply new parts and offer loan TV's in most cases while repairs were undertaken. Parts were supplied next day usually and often if a part would take too long to supply, Sony would just replace customer's TV as it would lead to a far better customer experience.

I can not rate Sony Highly enough
Along with being the far superior TV overall, if you care about after sales service even a little bit then its a no brainer. Sony is your choice.

    • Hisense is fine if you're buying a cheap second TV, for your primary TV I'd say you're definitely better off buying Sony for the reasons mentioned above. After sales support is something not many people value until something goes horribly wrong

The rubbish in this post is phenomenal

  • I'm loving my Sony TV on the basis that it runs Android, a major + for Sony in my opinion

  • Sorry I don't know a lot but does Hisense do Disney+ yet?

I would go with one on Android. I have the last LG TV I will own (after my last 4 TVs were LG) because they don't seem to support the 7 or 10 streaming apps (not essential but annoying). My next TV will definitely be android based, it will probably cost more but will be worth it in the long run.

    • No Disney+ on Hisense yet, but they've added Google Assistant to R6 series
