Forget the values of the A$ - QANTAS won't be around by then!
…and IF they are and it's not safe?
…and IF you pay and they go under?
      RISKY BUSINESS

    • Travel insurance?
ICU bed if you get seriously sick in the USA?
Going to the US in their flu season?
      Don't think so.

Now, if this deal came with free "cancel for any reason" travel insurance and 10 toilet rolls, I might be interested.

Imagine what our dollar will be down to by then :/

    • Probably best to look at what happened around the GFC. Our Currency did dip quite a bit, but it eventually recovered quite a bit (Although our quick recovery probably did help)

It does look bad now, but hopefully these lockdowns will arrest the spread of the coronavirus and in a few months time, thing will hopefully start to get back to some sort of normal. A high US dollar will not be in the interest of the US as it will likely be detrimental to the economy, so hopefully the Fed will do something to lower the currency.

I wouldn't want to have the holiday in the next couple of months, but hopefully by the end of the year, the currency conversion should be a little better.

      • The AUD has been sliding for years now. Unless 9/11 mk II occurs and China combined with India buy up all our fossils, I don't see the AUD recovering past 70 cents for a very long time…

    Yeah… Nah

    • Inside the model that may be making US, UK rethink coronavirus control suggests you might be making the right choice.

The report from the COVID-19 Response Team at Imperial College London paints a grim picture of millions of deaths in the two countries if nothing is done, as infections greatly outstrip the capacity of their hospital systems to handle patients. But it does find that aggressive steps can hold off the virus until an effective vaccine can be developed, although those will mean shutting down many aspects of society for over a year.

If it were free or I were being paid to travel I would not go overseas till the Corona pitters out. No Corona health insurance /no government support, no tourist/attractions open and no way of knowing what is going to happen going forward. Listen to PM & his health advisor on this one.

  • Are we expecting any low fares for Mid Dec to Mid Jan? Im thinking XMAS?NYE in Europe! Austria, France have good snow and Iceland for Northern Lights, Hot Springs! I was looking forward to a holiday this year, but it's off the books now.

Your talking school holidays . Not likely .

      • -3

I don't really see Iceland as a hot spot for SCHOOL HOLIDAYS? I looked recently and flights from Adelaide to Austria were around $1,500AUD

    • I'm booked in for NYE in Europe and Northern Lights in Iceland, but I haven't decided where to do NYE yet. I like seeing new places, and have done most central Europe. I'm not a fan of London or Paris. Edinburgh would be great, but I have visited there before. I'm considering Croatia or somewhere in that area.

      • I'm unsure where for NYE, But you have plenty of options. I've never done a winter trip, so need to research the best city.

        • I've done Barcelona for NYE, and that was pretty cool. I've also done New York, which nothing compares to.
