GM offering Holden dealers contracts til 2025, not the publicly promised 2030

https://www.caradvice.com.au/835743/exclusive-holden-offerin…

A Holden dealer council representative – speaking on condition of anonymity over fears it could impact his negotiations with General Motors – said there is “currently no guarantee” Holden customers will be supported beyond the five-year servicing contracts.

More detail in the article but that's the gist of it. A Holden dealer rep is sharing info on the contract they've been offered and saying they think it means GM won't support Holdens beyond 2025.

Take it maybe with some little grains of salt,

Remember this webside (caradvice) also told us you could get a Trax for $12-14,000.

Classified here as a unobtainable deal.

But the internet says it so it must be true!

CarAdvice and credible motoring journalism are mutually exclusive.

Many of their articles seem to be click bait to whip their comments section into a frenzy where random people spew even more garbage and disinformation

    • Also keep in mind that the standard dealer contract run for 5 years. So in this case, likely to be 5 + (a re-negotiated) 5 further down the line.

I would expect the service network/contracts to be trimmed down initially from 240ish, then again in 5 years as there will be less Holdens on the road (no new ones, older ones crashed/scrapped/etc.)

  • Holden haven't supported holden owners in the past 10 years, why would dealer support be any different.
