The Hungry Jacks next to the Royal Brisbane Hospital is gonna get slammed

I would rather opt for mcd

      • +2

        How about both?

Get a coffee from maccas, then go over to HJs and get a bottle of water to wash it down afterwards lol

        • Haha that does sound good lol

I was just comparing coffees. Didn’t even think that they offer other drinks as well

@Pricebeat: Hungry Jack's actually does a decent mocha, but for anything else I'd agree it's subpar.

Wonder if staff will visit the store just for free drink :P

      • This is ozbargain

    • Very true

  • +1

    Great.
Not sure how they're gonna work out if your job is one of those in the list based on your ID.

Just a note that I had a shake and win free hot drink a few months ago and they really have improved the hot chocolate. No more chocolate water.

I wonder what percentage of health workers know about this deal but still wouldn't ask for a freebie. It's a lot easier to give someone a gift when the process doesn't make them feel like a beggar.

The gestures are nice, but I refused to take any of the deals at the moment. As a healthcare worker, I'm fortunate in my income when most of Australia is struggling. I had no problem taking free coffees with shake and win, but these are different circumstances…

  • monkey see monkey do

Doesn’t include Paramedics? Ah well, I’ll got to Maccas instead.

      Humble flex 😂

Hungry Jacks coffee is worse than instant

    • Do different Hungry Jacks restaurants have different machines or something? Try ordering a cappuccino from HJ. Mine is REALLY good. Especially at $2/medium coffee (or $4.50 for the small muffin meal)

    • Ours is heaps better now they have a new machine

  • +2

Great initiative for morale boost for those staff, though i did see a maccas guy scoff at two nurses inquiring about it, at randwick maccas, how disappointing

    • +2

Was it the manager on duty (grey shirt or non-red) or a regular employee?

I think stores should have the balls to put giant signs advertising the promo and risk fakers enquiring. But you proved my point about them making you feel like a beggar.

    • At Macca's I'd probably rather pay normal price for coffee rather than stand around the till while the workers pretend to ignore you.

Free Water?? What a novel idea!

    Poor paramedics :(

Hungry jacks coffee tastes like sh*t, I'd rather drink blend 43 than being paid to drink their coffee

Gone to use hungry jack's app free coffee, then stand around and talk to the allied health workers about my free coffee and their stupidity buying into this crap.

  • Well my feeling about this, and similar deals is have we forgotten somebody already….

    The volunteer bush-fighters

    • +5

      Why are they fighting bushes?

      • +1

        Lol my bad..

      • +4

        For toilet paper

  • Does this apply to aged care workers as well?

  • Not worth it even for free.
I tried it when I got it free from shake and win but regretted it.

  • Have a paramedic mate who gets free hot drinks at most places (even in the pre-corona days), so imagine this is still the case.

HJs should really give this to those who have lost their jobs and are stressing out at centrelink. Pretty sure $2 wont send a doctor broke!

  • Seriously, free is too much for this coffee. How the hell they make it so bad.

  • +1

I know medical students on clinical placements aren't included on this list, but I want to ask if other medical students had luck with this? Thanks :)

  • can confirm HJ coffee tastes like dog sh*t loll

    • What coffee are you ordering from HJ? I order a cappacino and it's actually very good. The one-button machine and the beans is very good. Yes barista coffee at a cafe is a bit better, but it's really cheap and widely available. What coffee are you buying?

      • I also got cappuccino but somehow mine tasted so bad a few times. I like the 7-11 ones better

        • I've found that cappuccinos are similarly terrible at HJs.
However, give a mocha a go. It's decent.

Shake (Shook) it on the app probably 2-3/5 days a week so I tried lots of different methods. No, putting a shitload of sugar can't save the cappuccino either.

Dam I keep looking at these deals hoping they'll apply to other staff at the hospital's.

My mum's a cleaner and she has been made to clean the areas dealing with coronavirus. While it's not near the level of nurses and doctors she's still being forced to take considerable risk.

Hoping they add other hospital workers soon.

  • What if the person making it has corona virus… Unless they wear a mask they will be spraying your coffee with there spit while talking.

  • What about all Emergancy Services workers- Police, Fire Fighters, Ambulance and NTES/SES? We're the ones you call when you need help at your stores!

  • What ID are aged care workers suppposed to show?
Most of the ones I know work through and agency and never even get issued with an ID nor a uniform.
