ASUS ZenBook UX433FAC 14" 1080p Touch i7-10510U 16GB 512GB $1499 + Delivery (+ ASUS $200 Cashback) @ Shopping Express

1160

First time posting - sorry for any errors.

This isn't their cheapest - it was one of Shopping Express' "Epic Hour" deals recently and came with free delivery & a free 1TB portable HDD.

For this deal, with the $200 cashback it works out to be a little over $1300 (factoring S&H/CC surcharge) - really cheap for a machine with these specs.

I bought this laptop last week for $1699 (plus <$30 for delivery and CC surcharge - paid total $1728.40) and am waiting for the $200 EFTPOS card from ASUS now. I have just put in a price protection claim with my Coles MasterCard.

It's a great machine. I'm really happy with my purchase.

Considering the cost of laptops later in the year it's actually a great price

Considering the drop in value of the AUD…

      • -1

        Currencies world wide are dropping.

        • +1

that is not how it works.
          AUD dropped vs GBP
          AUD dropped vs USD
          GBP dropped vs USD

Above GBP is now stronger than previous year vs AUD but weaker vs USD

No way, those factories in China are almost capable of full production now. They are just waiting for orders.. Don't expect the price surge.

Asus cashback is kinda tricky. Good luck to anyone who has to deal with their promo team. Still waiting for the $40 cashback from the Asus router promo they had back in November last year.

    • I got it back for my lyra trio router but had to chase em up

Great value but only if it had thunderbolt.

    • Thanks, saved me 10 minutes looking at something that ultimately I wouldn't buy.

So few points about Asus laptops:
    1. Quality - is not high. I am not saying it is cheap plastic but this aluminum case damages very quick and get visible scratches
    2. Asus service is very bad - my laptop motherboard failed after 1 year and 1 week and I was quoted 980$ to replace it. At that time I put my claim to tribunal and they forced Asus to replace it for free, because such expensive laptop can't have just 1 year warranty in Australia (2 years everywhere else). Asus service were trying to charge me for any amount offered me 400$ then 200$ but I said no
    3. Now if I will compare my 2 years old Dell XPS 13 and 2 years old Asus - Asus is looks horrible while Dell looks like brand new. And I was so careful with both.

I've just upgraded from a 4-year-old Asus laptop (UX303) which has given me absolutely no trouble. I haven't had any issues with scratching on that machine but the new one is shinier and I can see it scratching more easily.

I haven't had to deal with ASUS customer support but I have heard pretty ordinary things about them from a few people on here. Here's hoping I don't have to find out directly.

I had an ASUS gaming laptop once which went strong for 7 years with a RAM and SSD upgrade. Zero issues despite daily gaming etc.

    • +1

That's really unfortunate. I have had an Asus PG279Q gaming monitor for almost 5 years now, and it broke about 2 years ago (3 year warranty). Took it to the local Asus repair centre, they changed out the mainboard of the monitor without even asking for a purchase receipt, got it back after 2 days up and running.

Besides their silly promos and cashbacks (I've never got my cashback for anything), I have no complaint about their service. Though quality control could be better.

    • Just curious on what the process is to put the claim though tribunal? Is there a cost associated?

    • I have this laptop, brought about 2 months through binglee

One month ago 7 keys on the keyboard (grouped together) stopped working.

Sent in to repair now been 3 weeks and still waiting :(

You judge the entire brand off of one laptop model. Absurd.

4 of my Asus laptops are all pretty solid and long lasting so I am finding your comment and experience really biased.

Had a zenbook a couple years back and would agree with the build quality. Paid almost the same as an XPS13 but it was miles behind the dell in build quality and did not feel like an ultrabook.

I did hear the newer ones aren’t as bad but dells have also gotten better since then too

    • I still use my UX32V i7. 8GB. Have updated to SSD 980GB and replaced battery, still going strong after must be at least 5 years. Case looks in excellent nic too. Lots of travelling with this zenbook too. Hard to rubbish ASUS when zenbook have been excellent brand in past and compared with apple products.

  • not bad, not bad at all

Just bought one and they gave a free gift:
Yubico YubiKey 5 NFC OTP Two-Factor Authentication USB Security Key worth $69

Bought this when SE had the epic hour deal not long ago. Brilliant compact, light laptop.

After cashback it's probably the cheapest 10th gen i7+16gb+512gb ultrabook in the market.

  • Contrary to some comments here (not saying they're wrong, everyone has different experiences), I bought an Asus UX430UN 14" Zenbook coming on two years ago now and it is still performing great.
Was happy with it out of the box and has held up well, use it travelling etc, cosmetic damage is next to none just slipping it in a case when travelling.
Battery life great, easily get 5-8 hours to a charge.
    Would definitely consider another asus

  • Shame we can't do TRS anymore for gst claim. Lockdown

    • There's still 60 days to reverse the travel bans!

      • Not worth getting the trs with the 14 day self isolation too

  • I just bought ZenBook Duo UX481 and put through my claim.
If I run into this I will definitely go for the i7 processor and 16GB of RAM, great deal!

    • did u manage to get the claim?? its constantly giving me error messages

      • Yes I have no issue doing so, if you continue to experience issue I suggest to email ASUS with all the claim information they need and they should be able to process your claim that way.

  • oops, made a mistake

  • Any recommendations on a good laptop for a student?

      By the 8GB i5 version. About $1149.

Or the Ryzen version under $1k

  • +1

Important to note either shopping method is free.

  • thanks OP. Finally bought one and got free shipping too.

  • Is 1080p still consider on par given the rest of the specs?

    • Yes. 4k is really unnoticabke at the distance you use this size of a screen. But, it will kill your battery. The two things this screen lacks is brightness and a matte finish. Meaning it is not great in bright enviroments, but should be fine in home/office.

  • Bought this last deal a couple weeks ago. Cashbacks are always finicky and this one was as well but after a second email providing further information my claim was granted for the $200 visa debit card… I think?

Either way, great little laptop. Didn't want the touch screen at first but glad I got it. Use it all the time. Guess touch screens are natural now for me. Would recommend at this price for a portable laptop. Wouldn't mind the 15" version but this 14" screen is big enough

  • Just bought this last week from mwave. Happy with my purchase, but somewhat annoyed that the USB-C port doesn't support display output, and the HDMI port doesn't support 4K @ 60Hz + HDR. That aside, it's a great machine. Does anyone know of any stylus with a mouse button function supported by this model ?

  • I have been using this for a week now and I love it.

  • Sold out - bought one just in time

Hopefully the keyboard is better than the last zenbook I bought in 2012

  • im trying to get the $200 cashback from asus. but it constantly giving me error messages when i apply at the end… what should i do?

    • I had the same issue in Google Chrome. I tried completing the form through Firefox and it went through fine. I got the confirmation email later that day from Asus.

  • If anyone is thinking of selling theirs, please PM me.

    • Would like to resell, can you PM me?
my account is too new so cant send a message.
