These are profiteer prices and shouldn't be listed here

Price gouging and medical professionals actually need these, i don't care if they "make people feel safer" stop wasting resources

    • -3

Pretty sure doctors don't need these "dust masks" .

Thinking of buying some to look a little more affluent while socialising down the shops .

"featuring good skin tolerance and comfortable to wear" Ticks all the boxes .

A box of 50 mask during "normal" times are $4 each. Not cheap knock-offs, I'm talking about a TGA approved level 2 surgical masks. I used to do orders for a dental practice and that's how much they are listed for. Incidentally surgical masks don't protect you against wuhan virus it will only protect others from you.

This N95 mask is also useless and at best works the same as a level 2 or level 3 surgical mask. To protect yourself from wuhan virus you need a medical use surgical mask that is a 3M 1860 or 1870. Alternatively the Proshield N95 duckbill will also be more protective. Don't waste your money on these knock-off opportunistic junk.

Incidentally surgical masks don't protect you against wuhan virus it will only protect others from you.

Wearing any form of barrier is helpful when you’re close up to others, and not able to do social distancing. This is why doctors wear them.

These were about $1 before the virus and the seller and his inflated price gouging should not be promoted here. Rather the seller should be shot into the sun.

    • If you understand supply and demand then you would understand why prices of masks have gone up. Is this deal a bargain? At this time it’s near impossible to get masks so yes it’s a bargain. Would I buy it? no, cheaper to wear a piece of cloth over your face.

After China scalped all the products for cheap from around the globe and now selling it back at 25 times what they purchased for.

        • -2

Whats wrong with "China scalped all the products for cheap from around the globe"? The country was in need of the medical supply at the time when all the factories were shut down in China, and all western countries did was sitting back and laugh, and no they didn't scalp for cheap they paid at retail price, and they've donated the masks to the one in need

Now that we're in need of the supply, I don't see any Australian companies scalping supplies from around the globe and donating to us at home

10 for $10 is not a bargain. Even in this economy.

You can buy dust rated masks in packs of 100 for $20ish at any boat building supply store.

    • Can you post the links for these cheap masks to help fellow OB'ers saving $ instead of overpaying at SS?

      • Most building supply yard's don't have an online presence; open the yellow pages, find building supplies, find a company that looks like it would deal with dust a lot, and give them a call.
Though if you say it's for a virus, not sanding, they're likely to hang up on ya.
Besides, if you're happy with dust level protection, look into motorbike bandannas and the such.

    • A quick search on ebay shows stocks are back of cheap surgical/dust masks.

There are countless 50x for $25.

Literally half the price of this deal.

  • I feel for you op, walked past a corner shop today with a sign out the front saying 3.60 each per face mask and 12 for hand sanitiser

  • i heard surgical mask is enough for normal people, N95 for Doctor/nurse. did i get the wrong info?

5 negs vs 200 clicks, its a + for me

We should all boycott the profiteer. I am not buying these masks.

Stop with all this placebo postings.
At times like this, people can be desperate & resort to buying these masks at hugely inflated prices but yet do nothing to protect them.

Some people will just post anything for the sake of posting anything.

    • -4

I can see that you have been very selective with your contribution to OB, 5 posts since 2013 ;-)

      • +1

Yes I have, and unlike you not everyone has the time and energy to always be shopping or looking for bargains. I do however try to post a deal if & when I discover something I think is worth posting.

Go ahead and be proud of your 70+ posts, but as evident from your latest post votes, I wouldn't be so snarky.

        • Ding! Check please!

Perhaps the OP can find him some burn cream at inflated prices, lol.

        • -1

And the few posts that you put up were roaring success? Take a good look at yourself buddy!

          • @Buy2Much: "Tale a good look at yourself buddy!"

            I did.
And tho it wasn't a roaring success, I'm okay with it.

  • Without any ASTM or any standard equivalent mentioned. These masks are useless to be honest.

  • Better use a piece of cloth than paying this ridiculous price.

  • Stop hoarding masks.

  • DO NOT USE THESE FOR WOODWORK!
    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Medium-density_fibreboard#Safe…
MDF and some timbers like blackwood are quite dangerous, you need a "real" respirator…

    • Working with mdf is fun… you always know you've been at it too long when your nose bleeds.

Nowadays i wear a mask, my entire youth making sub boxes; nope. Lol.

    Wtf is this

We all know that the TV says masks don't work and may actually increase your chances of getting something.

However somehow magically when you are in a hospital environment the Doctors, Surgeons and Nurses think they work great.

Is TV lying to me. Nooooooo…..

    • The government is lying to you.

      • YOu mean TV AND the Government are lying to me.

Or is the TV the mouthpiece for the Government. Noooooooo

Im betting once China Ramps up production of Masks (Because We in Australia have exported our Manufacturing Base and are now incapable of producing anything)
and there is a supply of Masks, then suddenly the Government line will go from. Masks are ineffective to everyone must wear masks.

        Baaaaa Baaaaaa My fellow sheep.
