How to Get Notified of Tags?

I’ve got alerts setup but how do I setup notifications for tags?

Comments

  • Click on the tag and subscribe

    Eg https://www.ozbargain.com.au/cat/groceries

    • Oh I see from that link the subscribe button but when I’m viewing a deal and then click a tag I don’t see the subscribe button?

      • Maybe only the main ones are subscribe-able?

Alerts would work then I suppose?

        • It does seem like that, just figured out from a deal you can do what you described but only for purple ones and not the grey ones? I wonder what determines if it is a main one or not?

Ps I had alerts setup but didn’t get notified as it wasn’t in the title.

          • @bobwokeup: The main deal categories:

            Education
            Electrical & Electronics

  • There aren't alerts for tags since the majority of the time moderators & power users are the ones who add them to deal mostly within hours but sometimes days. You're best to use search alerts. Search alerts search through the title and body of the post.

As above, you can subscribe to categories so every deal posted into that category you will get an email. You can also subscribe to stores or by user with the same result.

    • Thanks neil but I had the search alert setup and it appears not to include tags in that search? I checked the post and the word from my search alert was only in the tag.

      • No tags. What post was it?

        • I had a search alert on “Low Carb” which is one of the tags on the Free Shipping on All Orders @ Locako deal.

          • @bobwokeup: Generally there is a better chance of someone mentioning the keyword you want in the description rather than the tags which are often populated with nothing.

Low Carb via search brings 5 deals in the past 30 days.
Low Carb via tags brings 2 deals in the past 30 days. Those 2 deals are from Locako so probably would be wise for them to describe the products in the description.

            • @neil: Very true I would have thought it'd be in the heading or description before a tag too…
