Try calling again in the morning? The line was shut on Saturday late afternoon/evening and around 8am this morning, but opened later in the morning. I made a call early afternoon, and waited over an hour before finally speaking to someone.

  • One of the risks I hear about going with catch, many responses saying porting out of catch and experiencing trouble.

    • I guess you can only blame the user because the catch is in the company name.

    • I've ported from Catch to Kogan plenty of times and never had a problem. Usually takes 10 minutes.

Did you get a confirmation text on the catch sim?

    • I downvoted you by accident while scrolling down the page and downvotes cant be reversed. Sorry bout that I feel bad

      • I think you can reverse a downvote with an up vote.

  • I've spent about 6 hours of my day on hold over the last 2 days trying to speak to koganmobile.
How do I get in contact with these guys? I'm porting from amaysim (expired with no credit) to kogan. The porting process is apparently initiated but I had to reply to there SMS with a code. I have no credit so can't do so. They say in their SMS to call if there are issues, but sadly cannot reach them.

oh wait, you didn't know the new porting mobile rules which needs you to have the ability to reply to SMS to port out? It's been a few months now.

Thanks. Porting it not something I do regularly so I wasn't aware of this prior.
"Turns out Kogan porting team can override it." This is good to know but the issue is reaching them for help.

        • I had a similar issue trying to port into Kogan from Optus after the Optus SIM ran out of credit. Rang Kogan and they manually recieved the code SMS'ed and pushed through the porting process then. The number then ported shortly after.
Edit: this was 4 weeks ago.

  • have been trying to get to the call centre for the past few days as well

need them to do a manual port as I ran out of credit to do the SMS auth.

  • Not looking great Jan

  • I tried to call them so many times since 23 Mar. I waited over 2 hours on the phone but got cut off. This happened so many times already.

  • you now need to have an active service with catch, to be able to recieve a text message to which you must be able to reply..

the way to work around this is to contact kogan, give them your details for porting
then call catchconnect, advise them you are porting and they can do the necessary..

never has been a problem if you do it the right way / correctly. it's against the law for them to prevent you to , but it's not illegal to make it difficult

the worst experience so far has been circles.life just because it's not technically a post paid service - but they set you up so, and bill 1st of the month but only send out the bill on the 16th…

  • The way I understand it the number you are porting must still be active and contactable as they send a sms to you to prove the the porting number is yours,I read it in their porting terms and conditions or just their terms and conditions, cheers

  • try googling "koganmobile" contact details,

    • They have a phone number, nothing else. No other means of contacting them if you have a problem.

  • Crazy how a virus can affect this, but if I've heard correctly telstra may have stopped portings to priortise other things I guessing medical related

  • I've tried calling Kogan Mobile about a sim issue and I keep getting a message saying they're not taking any calls due to 'unforseen circumstances'.
Too bad they don't offer any other ways to contact them…

  • Having the same issue porting from catch to kogan.
Have been on hold and cant get through to anyone zzz

I gave up after multiple calls to Kogan Mobile. It will generally sit on hold for around 1-1.5hours and then disconnect for no reason. 6 consecutive days of that and I am done.

I called up the Telecommunications Ombudsman. Put in a complaint, Kogan now have 14 business days to respond or penalties will apply. I recommend everyone put in complaints with the Ombudsman.

    • I ported from telstra to kogan and porting completed in less than 10 mins.

      • I am actually doing the exact opposite at the moment. I grabbed one of those cheap Boost sims. Trying to port away from Kogan. But I need to update the account name for my wife's account due to a name change. I cant port until the details are fixed. And I cant fix them… well because Kogan.

        • same, haven't been able to connect to call centre for over a week.

  • I've been trying to get my number ported from catch to boost. been three weeks now and still no luck. Boost are now telling me they've emailed it to their technical department in India who is in lockdown and don't know when it will occur. that was after telling me the request for port was rejected by catch four times.
Catch denied ever getting a request to port. $300 Sim card and I can't use it 😖

  • I initiated a port, nothing happened after a week. Managed to get hold of someone after a long wait.

In my case I hadn't replied to an sms they send with a confirmation code. I'd already put the inactive kogan sim card in the phone on the Sunday night expecting the port to happen early Monday morning so didn't receive the sms.

They resent the code, I replied and a few minutes later as I was still talking to the guy the phone cut off as the transfer happened.

    • ah you actually got through, how long were you waiting on hold for?

  • I think Kogan uses Phillipino call centres, their phones are unresponsive and live chat is turned off. I guess working remote isn't an option in some countries. I wrote an email to [email protected] after a two 1hr waits on the phone just to be hung up on. They said they cant help as haven't got access to mobile system.

I have also activated a new Dodo sim card online 10 days ago and it still isnt connecting to the network. Probaby same issue with using foreign staff.

  • Hi all,

I've successfully contacted Kogan help centre on the phon as I had to redo a port as well.

It was on the line for 2 hours though, but they will eventually pick up. The staff are working from home.

My original voucher expired on the 10th but they were able to bypass it when doing manually.
