Head Hair Clippers for 'Quarantine Cuts'

So my housemates and I have decided we're going to get some fresh quarantine cuts since we can't/shouldn't go to a hairdresser's, 1 of us is going to do the cutting for the other 2, but with the ATTEMPT at a fade on the sides. Can anyone recommend the best value clippers for amateur home stylists?

Just in case our 25 year old Tiffany branded clippers die. Would have cost $15 from Cunninghams Warehouse.
Tip is to keep them oiled.

I did mine yesterday. 0.5 all over. Who cares what it looks like, I'm staying home anyway.

I'm sensing a return to the fashion trend of the 1600's - shaved heads and elaborate wigs

  • While you're at it, you need to also procure a bowl.

    • Ahh, the Blackadder style…

  • Just go to myer and see whats available…

    • go to where? doesnt exist anymore, that shop.

  • For me, this is a good opportunity to grow a man bun.

      no such thing

    • my housemate said this, and I said a man bun still requires some form of grooming first. Turns out he was just talking about a pony tail.

Any Wahl, just make sure it is Made in USA.

Cutting your own hair is easy. Save a fortune and much more convenient.

  • my question is, how to cut/style your back side of your head using a clipper?
im using this: Remington Rapid Cut Turbo Clipper: Black HC4300AU

Buy one with the slanted cutting guides. Practice, practice and practice. Try to fade your pubes first

      you mean housemate pubes first?

I've had this set for years. Quite reliable. SHAVE10 for $10 off, free shipping over $30 (not sure if before or after code).

    • +1

      It's after the code

    • I've got a similar Wahl set (made in China) and works well. I have been cutting my own hair for a couple of years and with the blades & taper lever, it's quite easy to get a good fade. You can fade up to a blade 8 on top which is quite short but still looks fine. I cut my sons' hair now and I have recently started to cut friends and family. It seems I might be a bit more busier during the lockdown so I've called it Covid Cuts. :)

      • How did you first learn? Videos?

  • Was going to ask what clippers everyone is getting, cru cuts all round lol

  • Any deals around on Wahl clippers? And how’s everyone’s quarantine cuts going, any disasters?

Hey all, I did a bit of research by reading up on the web. It isn't easy to find good advice that isn't a click bait top 10 hair trimmers website.

The most independent website I found was:
    https://www.hairclippersclub.com/

From their, and others suggestions on Amazon reviews, I would suggest if you have a low budget then go the above suggest Wahl Colour Home Pro - $30-40. Don't let the Pro name convince you this is a pro product though.

If you want a Wahl clipper that is of higher standard and have thick hair, I do, then the best bet is to pick up the Wahl Icon. It features their best motor is can be found for about $130. Here is a review for them: https://www.hairclippersclub.com/wahl-icon-review-taper-hair….

    $129 on eBay - https://tinyurl.com/y2csqpro

From my reading they are better then similar priced the Wahl Super Taper.

Also, the Remington Rapid Cut Turbo Clipper is said to be great if you want a near bald cut look. I personally prefer a corded device so I can use it for years rather than until the battery dies.

    I hope this helps
