like the violinist on the deck of the titanic…

    • good example! haha

      • Hahaha yep. Bloody useless.

  • Lol.

  • Is it a deal during Covid19 pandemic era?

With daily pleas for people to stay home, this really isn't a deal right now.

What's the point? Encouraging people to leave home?

I have to work at a place close to Westfield Chatswood. Now I can park at westfield all day free of charge. This will reduce my direct contact with other people, comparing to me taking public transport.

      • Well on your case it's certainly better. But for the majority I bet it's not..

Great deal for those people still having to go to work and would have usually taken public transport due to lack of parking. At least now they can isolate in their cars and have somewhere to park their cars close to work.

Absolutely scumbag behaviour from Westfield in this time of pandemic. All they care about is their sinking profits, trying to lure shoppers with free parking into their tenants' shops.

  • Handy for work, thanks dude.

Now everyone who was trapped in Westfields can drive home. Finally.

  • bad job WF!

I think this is a bit of a deal, but not in the way Westfields thinks of it.
Parramatta and Burwood (NSW) are close to the station. Those that have to go to work could use the free parking option, saves a bus ride.

    • For the longest time (until around 2010 I believe), parking was free at Hurstville. People used to park there and take the train to work. So as you say, they could do that again now lol

I actually appreciate this deal as all the grocery stores/pharmacy/butcher, etc are located at my local Westfields.

Many Westfields also have medical centres, including dental practices so it's quite easy to go over the allocated free parking times if you're wanting to limit trips outside when you factor in waiting times to see medical professionals and also queuing for toilet paper !

    • Westfield generally has free parking for at least two hours. If you need to stay there more than that to shop, you are really after trouble.

        Trouble?

    Same as Macquarie Centre

(where the first clusters of cases in NSW appeared at the nearby nursing home and Ryde Hospital)

With half the shops closed, it's unlikely I'll be there for long anyhow.

Apart from grocery shopping and takeaway, most of my purchases are online with delivery.

    • Now, most of the shops closed other than some cafes, take away restaurants, supermarkets and pharmacies. That's about it.

Drive straight in and straight out, no need to lower window or go to payment machine to pay for parking.

    It's a good thing really.

    • No need to stop too.
Just go in circles in and out for giggles…

Or did you mean do some shopping too…

  • They should do the opposite and charge people $25 if they're there longer than an hour or something.

Completely agree except for people who now can take advantage to park and go to work.

  • Always free for the ones in WA I've been to. No way I'd go to a mall with paid parking.
