    Just 50%?

Given that there are no more incoming visitors, business travel is all but gone, and the best they can do is 50%? Who else are they going to rent it to?

    • +7

Well to be fair they have costs they still need to cover at a bare minimum.

50% is absurdly generous, nothing to scoff at.

      • Hi Azzazz. You are very correct. It isn't uncommon for many car rental companies to offer a maximum of 15% as margins are very thin. I have not seen any company offering 50% off before. This discount is also in line with international endeavours offering the same rate as Enterprise feels its an international initiative/Duty to assist those on the front line. In the US they have also extended it to military personnel. We are focussing on Healthcare workers at the moment but are very aware that our service personnel also assist and are more than happy to offer it to them also. One final note to be aware of, This discount is on top of the already heavily reduced prices in the industry and I believe the charges only cover our vehicle costs.

    • jesus christ you're a choosy beggar. They're under no obligation to give any discount to anyone.

What do you do? Lets all come to your business and demand AT LEAST 50% off…

I don't mean to sound rude but imo you guys should really make it free for them because I strongly believe most of your cars are just sitting there collecting dust.
Obviously they still have to pay for petrol and insurance but it'd be a nice gesture to help imo.

    • Petrol, washing, servicing the vehicle are consumable items.

      • And the wages of the staff running the shops…

    • You don’t think the owner and the staff of the company are also human beings and need to put food on the table? I’d like to know how much you contributed to the society please.

I'm figuring health care workers are kind of busy at the moment and not renting cars…

    • Increased needs for Locum and relief doctors so some are travelling.

Most doctors are already leasing a bmw

    • +1

Not exactly, most doctors drives an everyday car for a daily runner. A few that are into cars would have got one on the side as a toy, ranged from Japanese from early 20s to the latest exotic machines.

Don't forget, nurses are in the medical field too. Might be useful for them as many catches public transport to work.

    • Doctors are also a small percentage - there are many nurses + allied health people to one doctor.

    • Junior doctors and doctors-in-training definitely aren't! The best car in my intern cohort is a 2010 Lexus.

I appreciate the 50% off sentiment. But are UVC lamps used after they have used it? Bare minimum please park it in the sun for 24hrs between users. Dont send a worker in to standard clean it between users. We are talking about a non living 0.00025mm (approx) organism that has changed the world overnight. Health workers being in the high risk of carrying the little RNA bags. I wouldn't like to be the next person in the car. We now have confirmed cases of people being infected indirectly. Can't use this word enough… vectors.

China are using UVC everywhere. Im yet to see one application in Australia :(

You make a good point. I have ordered a wand. Was not Ozbargain price but .. (eBay)

If I see another for a great deal I'll post here. The one I've ordered was out of Victoria.

      Vectors…gotta hate em…

      • Yeah, UV C isn't cheap. UV AB won't cut it.

Hi @tunzafun001. Thankyou for your suggestion. I will defiantly ask the operations team to look into this device. Let me reassure all though that Enterprise has rigorously high standards compared to the industry that we follow when it comes to cleaning internationally as with in Australia. Our team locally has also recently further invested in additional cleaning products and upskilling our staff on procedures to ensure the cars meet the requirements necessary to combat the coronavirus.

      • Glad to hear you are being pro active. Nice Job! I also second perilious2's suggestion below.

@mattyp1992, good idea. Please run this offer after the pandemic is over and health workers are taking holidays, to give them well earned holidays. That will be appreciated.

    • Hi @pweilious2. Great suggestion. I hadn't even thought about it but I will definitely raise it with the team. I will even pass it onto the global operations team who may offer it internationally.

  • There's a dead end road by the freeway near Sydney Airport with a couple of thousand cars nose to tail in it… assuming these are rentals they can't move.
