 - Who the hell would want to spend this kind of money on just a CPU these days…??? - Me… - most everyone i know would want to. But we all "settled" for the 3600.

 - when you need 16c/32t for workstation but don't want to invest into TR4 or intels ever changing LGA sockets. just saying the price is up there for a reason. just a smaller market. - personally i'd go for the 3900x, more cost/value. - Yeah it's a very niche market, I do believe professionals will benefit quite a bit from quad channel + more PCIe lanes from ThreadRipper though.
As for the 3950X and even the 3900X they don't have any competitors so it's AMD's right to charge whatever they deem reasonable really.

 - Ryzen 4000 series are just around the corner so they should be running out the old stock. - Yeah I'm hanging out for Ryzen 4000 series but still likely looking at least October before we see them - https://wccftech.com/amd-ryzen-4000-zen-3-cpu-and-radeon-rx-…

 - can't believe, price jacked up to 1439….
 - Geez for $1299 I hope this PC comes with at least 16GB of RAM - nope, that's just for the cpu.
 - You do realise that this is a high end AMD computer processor with no competition from Intel. It's targeting content creators. Hence the high price.
