[Switch] Crash Bandicoot N' Sane Trilogy $34.95, Taiko no Tatsujin $45.45 @ Nintendo eShop AU

130

Hi guys!

Saw this on the e-shop this morning. Seems to be a good deal (I think it was 50% off - I bought it and now it doesn't say)

Sorry I don't have the link for it, so the catalogue link will have to do for now.

Thanks Mui for the link

Taiko no Tatsujin $45.45 @ Nintendo eShop AU

Saw this on the e-shop this morning. I think this was 50% off and has been the cheapest I've seen it to be.

There's been a few comments on how to play, so I thought I'd update the post.
Of course with the drum kit, that would be the best playing experience. However, if you're like me, the game can also be played with the motion joycons, just the buttons or touchscreen.

Here is a video with someone testing out the motion joycons - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UG6MmB_wdaA

[Switch] Crash Team Racing Nitro Fueled $41.97 @ Nintendo eShop AU

Another game on a good deal. I have been waiting for CTR to go on sale.

Sorry, I don't have the link to the game.

Thanks to Mui for the link.

    • Still need the damn drum kit which costs like 100 bucks, but I guess you can get the fake one, not sure of the quality.

      • I believe that you can use the joycons only.
        Here's a link to someone reviewing them - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UG6MmB_wdaA

        • You can play with Joy Cons only, but it doesn’t feel right.

There’s also a Demo on the eshop (not sure if it’s still there).

      • Are you sure? it says Play Taiko 'arcade-style' by using the Joy-Con motion controls, or use the touch screen or standard button controls to play to your liking.
Only reason I ask is because I am actually keen on getting this game for the kids, but if you are right about needing the drum kit then I will give it a miss.

        • Doing some research on it now and here's an article that seems to also say you can play them with the joycons (and even just 1 joycon!) https://nintendosoup.com/game-review-taiko-no-tatsujin-ninte...
I guess if you find out you can't, I would assume you could get a refund through Nintendo Support. I also really want this game, so I'm hoping the article is right. Going for it anyway!

          • @emmkayye: If this is the same as the Japanese version, I borrowed a friend's kit a few months ago and you can definitely use joycons. While it is fun with the drum kit, you need something heavy at the back of it to stop it from moving as you hit it. I found it a lot easier to use the joycons to play (and less taxing on the arms) but when it came to 'hitting the side of the drum', I couldn't quite work out what the motion was as half the time it didn't seem to register.

It is really fun though, especially if you've played it at an arcade.

        • Ok, the game just downloaded and I can confirm there are 4 ways to play the game.
          1. Motion controller with joycons - so pretending you have drums in front of you
          2. Buttons only - so you can play it handheld or with the hand controller.
          3. Touchscreen - I wasn't really interested in that so didn't look into how that works.
          4. With the actual drum kit.

          Hope this helps!

      • It’s a case of “you get what you pay” and reviews are consistent in that. Though if money was not a problem, I’d splash out on a $300 drum that’s a very close recreation of the arcades in Japan.

Slightly off-topic but I can’t help myself. This is what I purchased when I went to Japan last year:

        • Second-hand JPN Wii console (no remote) - $7.10 AUD, roughly
        • Software only (can’t remember which one) - $15
        • Offical drum only - $15

If you happen to be in Japan, willing to scavenge through second shops (like Book-Off), okay with no English in the game and happy to settle for the Wii version (let’s face it, majority of us are very casual players of Taiko), this is a cheap alternative to the Switch version.

      • Have the game as i loved playing it in the arcade. You can definitely use joycons. The drum kit would be more fun imo though. Also waiting on the price of those to go down..

      • I apologise yeah you can use Joy Cons, but the experience just isn't as similar I feel. Because when I played this in the arcade, there's some moves you need to tap on the edge of the drum, dunno how easy that is it to do a air-motion of it with the joy cons.

    • Played this on switch using joycons … horribly inaccurate which made us give up after a few minutes.

    • +2

I've got the official drum (bought at release) and it's plenty of fun. Obviously not as good as arcade but still better than motion.

I think most people who play without a drum use buttons on a controller though. I did try the motion controls and found the main problem was the lack of feedback, ie you put a lot of effort into each don and ka but your arms keeps traveling as it never hits anything.

Songs aren't the best in the series, but enough to keep interested and some good doc (if anyone has bought more dlc any recommendations would be great)

  • Diablo and Witcher on sale too.

    • how do you find links / browse the store online?

      • from dekudeals :)

        • Nice, thank you!!

  • I have an aftermarket drum and it works perfectly so would recommend one if your looking for a cheaper option over the official one

    • Where did you get it from?

      • +1

I forget where as i got it when the game came out. but mine looks exactly like this one even down to the box it came in. https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/New-No-Tatsujin-Taiko-Drum-Controller-Stick-Set-For-Nintendo-Switch-Game-Console/264374737306?hash=item3d8df6599a:g:xlsAAOSwwz9eXcyz:sc:AU_Regular!3095!AU!-1
