Is anyone actually buying new clothes/shoes/etc??

I'm genuinely curious whether people are still out spending money on fashion at this time. I am getting constant emails about sales, discounts, "we're still here!", and Ozbargain posts (I have an alert for TM Lewin and it's gone off not stop)

But is anyone buying?? I already had a pretty decent wardrobe and i'm not expecting to be putting that to use anytime soon, we don't even know what season it will be when we're finally allowed back to pubs & clubs. I currently don't have any real need to be impressing anyone with my fashion sense except my wife and baby haha

What are other people doing?

If I see something cheap that I like I'll get stuff. Like this target deal for example.

I think the virus has been good for bargains.

Don't fall the trap. Asymptomatic carrier even if it looks good for them.

    • How did I miss that deal? I'm on ozb 24-7 and the day I'm busy at work I miss it.

  • only trousers (pants to some) and underwear. Making a hole in them sitting for too long working from home.

  • shoes? I've got too many new pairs I've been buying thanks to this website.

Don't worry, my wife is keeping the economy afloat with her online shopping for clothes.

  • Yep bought a fair bit from yesterday's DJ sale. Got some DJ gift cards to sitting here so might as well use them while DJ is still solvent.

  • I'd say same as before, not buying and more or any less to be honest. Only difference is I'm getting more takeaway as coles here has 3 lines to pass through before you can get in and I get to support local cafes/takeaway.

  • If we need it we still buy it, but we do take a closer look at whether it's an actual need or a want than we used to…

Getting some kids tracking - for some reason they refuse to wear their school uniforms 5 days a week.

Bought some new underwear to use as face masks as the smell of my current underwear was making me use 2 underwear face masks

    • Hentai Kamen is that you?

  • Yes, my wife and I have been buying discounted stuff from Amazon US, Reebok, etc.

Ironically, a lot of fitness wear lately despite gyms being closed.

  • It's times like these you realise that you don't really need clothes. Especially when WFH. Just don't stand up when all you're wearing is a business shirt.

    • Just turn off video. Your excuse can be that your hair is a mess due to the fact that even though hairdressers are still open, you don't want to take the chance of visiting and maybe getting COVID-19.

      • no need to go to that length.
Sorry my video doesn't work works fine.

  • Completely changed the focus, but still shopping.
No more office wear or shoes; more winter / comfy wear.

Who knows what size I'll be by the time we get out of here.

  • Is clothes shopping considered an essential activity/item? Genuine question. I assume so because those shops are still open, but it just seems counter-intuitive for survival purposes.

My toddler son is quickly growing out of his clothes such that I wish to buy new ones along with new shoes. Kids/Baby clothes sizings seem to be different across the brands such that the only real way I know if it fits is to test him in the clothes - this requires me to take him out.

The cold is getting colder too such that I want to ensure he's rugged up. Yes we have heating, but that's not always practical when a simple jumper can help.

I would say so. I'm gonna have to venture out soon to get some pool noodles for baby proofing shelves, can only imagine the amount of judgey stares I'll be getting

I need urgently a new pair of shoes. There's no way I'm going to a shopping centre to try on shoes, and I'm not sure I want to buy footwear online.

You don't have a suitable poll option for me.

  • yeah i know what you mean, constantly getting adverts or emails about sales.
the only sale i have bit the bullet on and gone for so far was the friends and family sale at Puma over the weekend. was able to get a pair of football boots i have been eyeing up for a while at 50% off so pretty chuffed.

seems funny though as i probably won't be able to use them until next year at the earliest it seems.
