Really? Up there with "well north of $5000" watches…

    • +4

I'd expect to see a Grand Seiko movement in a Grand Seiko, similarly an in-house for most of the leading Swiss watches $5K+…

    • $5k grand seiko watches do not use movements which lose 30 seconds per day

While I do admire supporting a local brand, saying these watches are comparable to Grand Seiko's is a flat out lie.

Firstly, they appear to be selling both quartz and mechanical watches are similar price points so it's important to get a mechanical one if you are trying to follow the characteristics of higher end watches.

Secondly, the movement used most commonly in these watches is the Seiko NH35 which is roughly equivalent to Seiko 4R35 movement found in their Prospex and Presage line (roughly $600). There's no way these watches can compare to high end Swiss or grand Seiko movements.

      • Maybe I've had a particularly poor experience with Swiss watches, but my Seamaster has been regularly serviced and continues to drop several (read: many) minutes each month. And the Carrera I owned previously was even worse (when it actually worked). It sound's like I'm relatively new to this compared to several on this thread so I'll show myself out before I humiliate myself further!

        • It's just hell sus with your new account as if you're shilling for the company.

for the prices, I'd rather get a Seiko from Starbuy

      • These are a little more expensive than Seiko but I think worth the difference, which is very little when on a discount like this. They use mostly Seiko movements but I feel the finish is better (no hand misalignment), the packaging is nicer and they are designed and I believe assembled in Australia so helping the local economy.

Up to 40%off…not a blanket discount

  • All of their watches are copycats.

    • That's actually not true.

      • Except for the general chronograph or dive design. Any watch enthuasiast can tell you where the designs of Burley Carlton and Fitzroy come from.

        • Well you did say all. I think there's enough variation to not call the majority of them homages. Some facets sure, but that's pretty much every watch on the market these days, except for the exotics.

        • What is the carlton based off? Really wanted to get one but I know my wrist is too small for the 50mm L2L.

  • Might cop just to own an Aussie watch. If only the carlton was an automatic but I get auto chronos at this price point don't exist.
