nbn Installation with Telstra Box

Hi all,

So a while back NBN installed the black NBN box in my home and they also installed a Tesltra Box. Any idea why they did this? Im with TPG and have my own modem and the only thing I'm with telstra is with my home phone.

I recently got NBN with Aussie Broadband and the NBN is through the Telstra box. My adsl still works with the other modem that is connected to TPG.

Any idea whats going on?

  • What exactly does this "Telstra box" look like? Model number etc.

Sorry i mean Telstra Modem. They pretty much gave it to me and installed it next to the NBN box

It's quite unclear what boxes you are referring to and there are a range of possible scenarios.

Do you know what your nbn access type is? ie HFC, FTTN, FTTP, Fixed Wireless?

Do you simultaneously have nbn with Aussie, ADSL with TPG and a normal phone service (PSTN) with Telstra?

  • Telstra modem for your Telstra landline that now operates via NBN, would be my guess.
Your ADSL will probably be shut down shortly.

    Hey Mate,

I think you have HFC NBN connected at your premises you can probably check this by looking at your address on the NBN website. Essentially your ADSL connection can remain connected as its two separate technologies hope this makes sense. Yout should be able to cancel your parallel TPG service without issue.
