"The Art of War" is an ancient Chinese military treatise that is attributed to Sun Tzu (also referred to as "Sunzi" and "Sun Wu"), a high ranking military general, strategist and tactist. The Art of War has also been applied to business and managerial strategies. Composed of 13 chapters, each of which is devoted to one aspect of warfare. It is said to be the definitive work on military strategies and tactics of its time, and is still read for its military insight which can be applied to business and managerial strategies as well.
Sun Tzu was a Chinese general, military strategist, and philosopher who lived in the Spring and Autumn period of ancient China. Sun Tzu is traditionally credited as the author of The Art of War, a widely influential work of military strategy that has affected both Western and Eastern philosophy. Aside from his legacy as the author of The Art of War, Sun Tzu is revered in Chinese and the Culture of Asia as a legendary historical figure. His birth name was Sun Wu, and he was known outside of his family by his courtesy name Changqing. The name Sun Tzu by which he is best known in the West is an honorific which means "Master Sun".

Maybe so, but I'd prefer an ePub to a plain PDF.

        • +13

Sure, buy why when it's done for you?

          • -3

@chrism238: For starters, you are getting a MOBI file not EPUB.

            • +2

@askbargain: And how hard is this: https://www.epubconverter.com/kindle-to-epub-converter/
A far better job than converting (reformatting) plain text.
              ?

              • -4

@chrism238: If you can convert kindle to epub, you can convert plaintext to epub. It's not "reformatting" if you are formatting from the source.

              • +13

@chrism238: jesus christ, why the hate? All he did was post a link with a couple of other download options - couldn't you have just said "thanks" or even nothing at all rather than be a PITA about it?

                • -3

@dm01: It's because he negged the deal if he didn't im sure everyone would of responded differently

                  • @Chef Freeman: Negged because "of" is not a suitable replacement for "have" in your sentence.

                    • -6

@Nitr0: I am sorry I'm not a English student taking a test right now

    • +4

So what exactly is the reason for the neg? Is it cheaper in your link?

      • +2

It's not a bargain. Was always free.

        • Been free since Adam was a boy, yet over 200 votes now

    • +5

I download all free Kindle books, I don't have the time or knowhow to convert this into that. If it's not in the Kindle store then I don't / can't get it. This is a bargain for me and others in my situation. Inproper use of a neg vote in my opinion.

      • -7

I download all free Kindle books

        A bit sad but okay.

I don't have the time or knowhow to convert this into that.

You can just email the file to your Kindle email.

If it's not in the Kindle store then I don't / can't get it.

I'm guessing you bought a Kindle just for this?

        • "A bit sad but okay."
You must have missed the point of this site, it's about being frugal.
"You can just email the file to your Kindle email."
I don't have the time or knowhow to do this, I've never used Kindle email.
"I'm guessing you bought a Kindle just for this?"
Yes, I did. I bought it just for free books, haven't paid for one book yet.

    • +1

Thanks for the extra download options!

  • I'd pay to see Big Man Tyrone do a video narration of this book while wearing a samurai outfit.

    • +8

then pay him? isn't that his whole business model?

      • -8

What do you mean by "then" pay him? Do you mean pay him once before the video production and then again just to watch it? I'm confused.

        • Pay him to do it, record it and sell it.

  • I believe the audiobook is available on YouTube if anyone is interested

    • +1

Do you prefer the one narrated by Gilbert Gottfried or Fran Drescher?

We had a irl example with the handling of coronavirus.

Remember the Chinese embassy crying foul when we closed borders to China citing inconvenience to citizens visiting Australia.

    • +6

Yep, and then they did the exact same thing and closed their borders…

    • +3

They cried racism when Singapore banned Wuhan flights, even though Singapore is ethnically chinese majority.

    • +4

Will be interesting to see how the commies handle the huge backlash and sanctions that are going to hit them like a proverbial brick once this issue tapers off

  • -3

Is this another version of Chuck Norris joke?

  • +16

This will come in mighty handy while we spend loads of time with our partners at home during the lockdown.

  • Will this turn me into a billionaire?

    • +8

No. Those would be them udemy courses.

  • +9

    Western governments should read this.

    An excerpt:
"If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle."

I hope the West is not only just realising how the CCP operates now, but is also wary of them.

    • +2

The government has better things to do than read your comments.

      • +3

Dang it! I was hoping Scott Morrison would personally reply to that comment.

  • Has Sun Tzu narrated an audio book?

    • +2

Yes, but we had a bit of trouble recording it

    • +1

He can't speak English and I don't think many people today can understand his dialect of Chinese either…

  • +8

If he's so great, then why is he dead?

    • and his work lives on…

    • Yeah, who would win? Sunny Zoo or BANE?

      • We have Batman? lol

        • I find your lack of confidence…. disturbing.

      • I hear an epic rap battle coming on.

    • Who would win? Scum stool or the man who invented war? 🤔

Great, had that penciled in for tomorrow. Need somewhere to store all this toilet paper.

"This title is not currently available for purchase."

  • +3

Um this is a joke right? This was written in the 5th century BC. There was no copyright law then, and even if there was, it would have likely expired in the 4th century BC. As such, this should be public domain.

    • +5

Ozbargainers are simple folks. They see a free book, they updoot.

    • +1

And he wrote this book in English in the 5th century BC??
He was more talented than I thought😉
The first comment gave the free PDF download address.

      • And he wrote this book e-book in English in the 5th century BC??

        FTFY.

Yes, definitely ahead of his time.

    • +1

Don't ya know there are always newer versions coming out?
Myself, I'm still waiting for "The Art of War and Zombies".

  • +1

Bit of light reading before bed

  • It is a bit dated. China got trounced by Japan in most major cities during their second war and would likely be Japanese territory were it not for major Russian assistance and that Japan spread itself a bit thin after taking so many major cities.

    • I’m not sure if you’re being serious or not, but no one is reading this today so they can prepare for war…and even if they were, this book isn’t some how to dummies with a 100% success rate. Dated you say? Possibly because it was written sometime in the 5th century BC.

      • The pincer formation still works from earlier. Sun Tzu wasn't even a fan. If you are going to apply war strategy to the boardroom, you'd want to be Hannibal. Elephants across the Alps FFS.

    • +1

China got trounced by Japan because they thought it was more fun to first have the left hand fight the right hand.

And, Japan got lucky with losing the war, otherwise, would have become part of China overtime.

      • +2

…otherwise, would have become part of China overtime.

Pretty sure in China you don't even get paid for overtime.

    • +3

That's because Japan also got a copy of the book.. duh

    • ”The Art of War was introduced into Japan c. AD 760 and the book quickly became popular among Japanese generals.”

Just started watching Breakingbad. They mentioned briefly something about this.

If you know your enemy as you know yourself youl fight without danger in many battles

  • pretty sure this is out of copyright (for a little while) and is now free by default.

    Thanks!

"If fighting is sure to result in victory, then you must fight! Sun Tsu said that, and I think he knows a little more about fighting than you do pal because he invented it! Then he perfected it so that no living man could best him in the ring of honor!" - The Soldier, Team Fortress 2

  • Prefer the bilingual version

  • Good author, I followed him to see if he releases any more gems like this one.

  • My Security Lecturer always recommended this book saying its his favourite. Guess its time to see what im missing out on
