Fox Hat XPA 375ml Cans (24pk) $60 Delivered @ Sippify

830

First post so go easy. I saw a deal posted last week at $55 for 24 pack. For those that missed out, the current price of $60 is still unbelievable value for this beer.

    30 cans + 8%. I grabbed one of these!

Some wines are on sale for $20, down from $30 and Dan's has them for $28. Some good prices all round!

    • Anyone can comment on the taste of this cider?

      • I don't mind a bit of cider to drink between beers, and these are normally $90. Currently $80 at Dan's and their very strong. I think 8% is around 2.2-2.3 standard drinks. $60 makes it $2 a can, extremely cheap!

        • +1

          Sold! thanks

    • Got one!

      So how's the taste guys?
$2 a can for 8% alcohol is way cheap.
Hope the taste is good too 😍

These Fox Hat beers are delicious. Got some last deal and glad to be ordering more.

    • Got some at $55, couldn't say no to another few cases when I saw they'd gone up by $5. Suppose I've got to start drinking them now.

      • +2

I rate these . Got mine from the last deal and their quite nice . Oaty caramel and low on bitterness and grassy hops , Dangerously easy to drink .

        I'm getting another .

  • +1

    Wear the Fox Hat?

  • +6

I grabbed last slab. Good drop. Ah little bitter after taste, kind of like Pirate Brewery IPA. I guess this is expected- just bit different to Balter xpa i was "hopping" to emulate.
Did the boozbud GABS pale ale pack and LOVE LOVE Bent spoke!!!

    • +4

Mmm I agree, the Bent Spoke is AMAZING

    • +4

Thanks for the details. If my wallet/health could afford it I'd replace all food with bentspoke's crankshaft, it's just that damn good (although I wouldn't mind normal cans, haha)

      • They have changed to normal cans :(

        • +1

          Due to supply issues.
          Tastes the same.

    • Yeah the aftertaste can be a bit much, especially if you're used to the more 'regular' beers - but it's quite nice and refreshing to have something different :)

      • +1

I do rate Fox Hat, just different and goes well to contrast my other Ozbargain beers in the cellar - Little Creatures and Monteiths Pointers Pale Ale x3.

  • +1

Good price for a good beer.

I'm happy to support any indie craft brewery offering:

    A) Beer this good
    B) In 24 can cartons (not 16!)
    C) For 60 clams
    D) Delivered to my door

    Cheers OP, great find!

they still advertise 'independant' on the packaging :/

      • -3

        Irrelevant.

      • Don't believe all you read… 1 of the 3 owners (brothers) suffered a brain tumour so was not really a sell-out situation…

      • -1

Big corporation? Bickford is family owned

      • +1

        Who gives a shit.

What does the beer taste like?

      • +3

        I think the big takeaway from that article was;

Vale CEO and head brewer Jeff Wright told The Crafty Pint all current staff have been made redundant and are free to start renegotiating their positions with the new owners.

I think the issue is when they promote as independent and trade on those values.

        Bickford is family owned

Being family owned doesn't mean anything, some of the largest corporations in the world are family owned.

        • 100% agree

        • Now that left a bitter taste in my mouth .

  • PS: SA heaps good!

Just a warning, I'm still waiting for my delivery from over 2 weeks ago.

    • +1

Same. Still waiting on 2 cartons ordered on the 24th March.

      • Yeah I ordered two. One turned up Thursday, the other still out - Easter long weekend, but I ordered before the 1 cartoon limit per day, so what gives splitting it. Eh…

        • I'm in the exact same boat…

      • +1 still waiting for my delivery

    • +1

Same here. Ordered March 24th, chased up about 5 times. Lots of empty promises, but still no beer
      Wear the Fox my beer?

      • Or where?

      • I'm still waiting. I've submitted a missing item report with AusPost. Sippify don't reply to emails.

    • Same too. AustPost claim they can't find it. A replacement case will be delivered between Tuesday and Thursday. The customer service has been pretty good though.

Maybe try the local water treatment plant?

      • +1

        Water or wastewater ;)

    • Plenty of deals on corona …

    • If you you like some entertainment, should look up other HKS comments.

      im not into perfume beer.

Lol, you got the response you wanted!

  • +1

Nice brew! My carton from the last deal was delivered to Perth metro on Saturday.

  • +2

Wish there was a deal on the IPA!

  • -2

Oh dear. They took the name from that bad old joke. It's supposed to be said fast so it sounds like "fook that" for anyone that doesn't know

    • -1

      I didn't know, and don't really care.

So what does the beer taste like?

      • +2

        Tastes like beer.

        • Well that was helpful.

  • +1

Pretty ordinary beer. Rated 3.6 on untappd. Plenty of microbreweries selling better beer for similar price.

    Not trying to sound rude

    • +2

      Post the similar deals then…..

    • +2

untappd is a harsh crowd, 3.6 for a core XPA is fairly decent I reckon!

    • Yep that’s why there selling it at this price. It’s just isn’t that good.
More power to the people that wona buy it for 60 a carton.

      • Feel free to throw up some other decent ~$60/case craft beer (shipped) deals and I'm sure others will be all over them.

  • I bought during the original deal ($55); nothing special, but decent value at this price. Probably won't be ordering more unless the price drops to $50 or below.

  • Purchased last time for $55. It’s not a bad beer. But I won’t be buying again. I’ll stick to my Clare valley XPA.

    • based on utappd, thats even worse ;)
      https://untappd.com/b/clare-valley-brewing-co-cvbc-xpa/25354…
only 3.51, thats less than the 3.62 Fox Hat XPA has ;)

It's also ~$90 a case from a quick google, so about 50% more expensive.

Feel free to throw up some other decent ~$60/case craft beer (shipped) deals and I'm sure others will be all over them.

Both have a RRP at around 99 a case. Often can get Clare for 60 in SA. Can currently drive down the road and grab a case for 74 right now. both have the same ABV, but the clare is 355ml cans so there 1.8 standards. IMO its a nicer beer. but ill be sure to add my untappd review for the fox hat of 2 stars, all untappd reviews are made of 2 and 4 stars so i dont even bother looking at that site.

Also i would rather drive down the road and pay 15 extra to have my beer now then wait 3 weeks for my delivery like last time.

    • Where are you finding Clare for $60?!

  • My order arrived this morning :)

  • This XPA just arrived, it's oxidised and smells somewhere between cardboard and sherry.

    • +1

Mines still not here . My first carton was great but after god knows how long on a truck I am not expecting much .
