Credit Cards with Complimentary Flights - Cancel or Keep?

Wondering if anyone has decided to cancel cards with complimentary flights, e.g. ANZ Travel Adventures? What was the outcome - did ANZ (or other provider) offer to waive the annual fee?

My anniversary date for ANZ travel rewards is coming up, given I can't book a Virgin flight or use the complimentary lounge tickets, the value of the card isn't really there anymore. I think I'll cancel it, but first interested to see if anyone else has hit up ANZ (or other credit card providers) for a waived annual fee or extensions to flight redemption, lounge passes, etc?

    I'm cancelling mine before anniversary date in September, but holding onto it until then in case I need the free flights. Unlikely, but it doesn't cost me anything.

      If you haven't used the free flight, have you considered calling and asking for an extension?

        I booked it for a conference that got cancelled and changed it to a random later date, as changes were free but cancelling basically meant losing it altogether. They never sent confirmation though, so its probably lost anyway. Not that there's any flights out of WA anymore…

    Thought has kind of crossed my mind as well.

    Anniversary date just passed. Last year's flight was meant to be used this June which is very likely now out the window so will organise to move/cancel the flight soon.

    Haven't tried using this year's which I'd otherwise be eligible for.

    Still sitting on my lounge passes too…

    I didn't think CC providers were allowed to try entice you to stay any more when you call to cancel? They just have to process your request.

      I was more thinking about asking them to waive the annual fee otherwise I'll cancel, rather than them offering

    Hey,

    I was going to call them to ask about my Virgin lounge passes expiring (from Virgin Money last year). Was planning to use them in May, but can't fly now.

    You make an excellent point about the free flights. What I am looking at is requesting a product swap to move my cards points from Virgin to Qantas as I don't feel confident Virgin will make it out the other side of covid-19 (just got gift cards for my 250k points, 100k of these from the latest Amex Velocity Card offer).

    Thought about cancelling my Jetstar one, but i see that due to crazy times they’ve stopped selling the product to new customers…it might be hard to get another in the future so i think i’ll keep it

    Subscribed. Anniversary date in Sept, haven't used my free flight or lounge passes yet. Pretty sure I'll just call to cancel in August, but keen to hear from anyone who can be bothered to put a call into them to see what they are willing to do.

    I haven’t used my flight credit with my ANZ traveller card and I have no chance of doing so with VA. I’m tempted to seek a refund of the annual fee but I’m not sure if that is too much to ask for.
