I hope AussieBB do the same.

    • Aussie Broadband use CGNAT so it would mean that a lot of users would be opting out of CGNAT by getting a static IP.

Nice! Time to learn me some Docker.

  • Thanks for this. I went online and into my account settings and the options was there to select static IP address.
Just be mindful as it will temporary disconnect your internet connection. I was in a middle of a video conference whilst I was doing this online :)

If you dont have good router/firewall dynamic IP might be better for you. The worst thing you can do is put your PC in the DMZ with static WAN IP.

  • Is superloop on par with abb?

    • Performance is the same, support is harder to reach, but I had technical problems on ABB with ipv6 that went away when switching to Superloop.

      • why switch to ipv6?

  • Anyone know the default gateway address for Superloop?

    • There isn't one particular default gateway. It'll vary based on the POI you connect to, or there might even be multiple gateways per POI (or one shared over multiple).

      • Thanks, my router seems to need it to work so I'll get onto them tomorrow for that info

        • Even if you do get a hold of what yours is, it won't work as IPoE requires you to be using a valid DHCP lease (which you won't have if you manually assign your IP).

        • You need to use Dynamic IP in the WAN Settings.

  • This feature is disabled according to my members account so not sure if it’s been ozbargained or targeted.

  • Also 50/20 customer, static IP is not free, BUT Delegated IPv6 Prefix is free.

Just wondering, why do we need IPv6 for?

    • +1

Technical differences aside, we've run out of IPv4 address allocations so IPv6 was created to replace it, with a lot more addresses.

ISPs have come up with other ways to work with the IPv4 addresses they have though (CGNAT etc) so IPv6 hasn't exactly become a necessity yet.

    • Just wondering, why do we need IPv6 for?

      Because Covid-19 can spread easier on IPv6 & 5G ;-)

When 5g gets properly rolled out in conjunction with IPv6, Every device will have its own individual internet (public facing) IP address.

  • Sorry for a super NOOB question. I can't to see VOIP rates on their information. (I did email an enquiry). Thank you.

Superloop does not sell voip services. the best setup is to use the $0 mynetfone whirlpool offer or maxotel

      • Thank you very much. So get your NBN from Superloop and get a VOIP provider for the PTSN side? Sounds like a good idea. (My Mum is 80 so is barely comfortable speaking on a mobile and prefers the old style cordless phone).

        • if she is more comfortable with a provider that does it all in one, then look at mate communicate or aussie broadband. also voip number porting is currently suspended due to the fact that telstra manages fixed line number porting in australia and the people who handle it are in lockdown

  • When does this expire?

  • Doesn't seem to be working anymore, signed up a week ago and the members page is showing $5 per month to add.

  • I contacted superloop today to confirm if free static IP on 100/20 and 100/40 plans before I signed up and was told no, that ended on 17 June. Unless someone else can say otherwise, this deal is over.
