    The Defy has serious manufacturing issues with the ear speaker. If the production date of the Defy is before 1st December 2010, it is likely to fail within days. http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/archive/1612411

      Thanks hfhf, I was seriously considering a Defy until I read that :)

      Now I'll wait and hope they'll release a XPRT/Droid Pro/Titanium shape in Oz. Does anyone know?

        Got mine repaired under warranty. Going strong since.
        Its lifeproof now! been using it for 7 months.
        Definitely one of the toughest smart phones ever built.
        It can be overclocked and the custom roms available are great!

    It is likely that you will encounter the ear speaker issue, but the good news is fonebiz can fix it within half an hour for free under warranty so it's not that much of an issue. I would get something else though unless your value the ruggedness highly as the hardware is a bit on the slow side and motoblur or whatever they call it is rubbish.

    But if you read the WP thread linked, apparently manufacture date makes no difference !?!
    I'd stay well clear of this phone totally.
