Hand Sanitizer and Mask Spend

If you are not in an industry that normally uses hand sanitizers and masks (e.g. medical), how much have you personally spent so far on each item for yourself/family?

Poll is only for hand sanitizer (I can't put up 2 polls in the one post); but put specific amounts in comments, including for mask spend.

Me: $0 - soap and water user; non-mask wearer.

I brought $5k worth at the start of the year and have been flogging it off as required.

  • $0 - work provided plenty in office for years and haven't needed any since moving to work from home arrangement. What's the point of this poll anyway?

    • Will have to much alco evaporated. Please top up with pure alco or replace :)

      • Good point, I should probably top mine off with a bit of metho 🤔

    In the industry.

Have not used mask/glove outside of work.

Have not taken a single bottle of hand sanitizer/wash/mask/gloves home (except what I typically do for handling paint, etc.)

  • I use PPEs when doing lab work. These are provided by my employer.

I've bought 1 box of gloves, 2x10 packs of N95 masks and a 750ml medical grade hand sanitiser but we've decided it would be best to give them to my SIL who just had a bub and suffers from asthma. Her husband is an essential worker.

  • Face masks $1 pcs on the company card.

I use a thing called soap

    • Don't we all?

  • Gives you an idea about how crazy this whole situation is if the first bracket is between $0.01 and $49.99.

    • First bracket is 0. You're referring to the second bracket (I could have made clearer as 0.01-<50)?

      • Oh yeah, I meant second bracket.
        There's none like $0.01 to $4.99 or $9.99?

It's quiet concerning if the cheapest bracket of buying hand sanitiser goes up to $50.

        • It's total spend so far.

          • @ihbh: As in, lifetime spend or just covid-19 spend?
If it's the latter, my point still stands.

Not sure why $200-1k exist tbh. If you're spending any more than $200 on hand sanitiser you're selling it for a profit or getting massively ripped off.

            • @pennypincher98: Since covid-19.

              • @ihbh: Then I don't know why the people spending $2-$3 should have to be lumped in with those spending $50.
You can get 2 litres of hand sanitizer delivered for that much..

  • Personally, about $15-20. but I know someone who has spend $200 on a couple of bottles ordered.

  • My hand sanitiser spend is down on pre-Covid. With all the restrictions I rarely go out so i don't use as much.

  • There is a pocket size hand sanitizer available at camp hill shop.
The price is $2 for 3oml and $4 for 60ml.
In case anybody needs one in and around Brisbane area.

  • brought some from overseas
