  • Has anyone used this before? I've been in the market for one but these generally have mixed reviews

    • -1

      Has anyone used this before?

      Yes, one person…

    • i use one myself, different brand, i bought it from ebay less than $8 delivered long time ago, still working fine.

the down side during the winter, when you turn on your heater, it will heat up your phone (if this is the case, i just place my phone on the tray behind my gear box)
another downside, people can see my mobile phone in the car, if i forgot to bring it down with me, which happened sometimes to me, and i have to walk back to my car to pick it up

overall, it does the job - showing me who is calling, sometimes GPS, sometimes i can press on my home button to activate my Siri easily

  • Yeah but it cuts off the air con… dont know why people buy these as opposed to the windscreen style.

    • windscreen style blocks your view.

    • I met this faith when i brought one of these. Also, Despite that you are able to adjust the angle of the holders, I find that most air vents can't support the weight of the phone, so the phone ends up at awkwards angles

  • Same size as the rear view mirror and put over to the side. Just better than glancing down at the air vent to follow google map…in my opinion.

    • Annoying though to have to remove it every time you want to throw a sunshade up.

Also the vent ones don't cut-off aircon. Ducts are interconnected so the back-pressure just forces more air out of the other vents. Total cooling to the car is about the same.

      • Nope….very compact versions are available, mine doesn't interfere with sunshade.
Tried the vent style and as a courier in a small truck in tropical climate….found them useless. Each to their own of course.

  • I would suggest waiting for the Baseus 10W Fast Wireless Charger (~ $25-30) when they are on sale somewhere. They have a sensor for auto clamping and release and work well.

  • I had one, utter crap as your phone just jumps out over bumps and speed bumps and yes blocks a vent. Had windscreen one and realised my phone got very hot in the sun.
Now I just those stick on ball things that I stick somewhere on my dash and metal plate on the back of my phone.
