  I have been considering the shield, but I think it may be overkill. I have an Xbox which I use for Netflix etc and a chromecast for streaming from my comp, however, I want something to access other regions of Netflix and get BBC iplayer etc. I have open VPN/VPN client but I think the Xbox region gives my location away so I cannot get the alternative content, hence considering an android box. Any suggestions will be helpful. Ideally, I would use the Xbox for standard content and the android for UK/USA content rather than faffing with the computer and casting.

    In your case the shield might be a good fit - few device can setup VPN on it, some Chinese android media players can but they are not authorised play 4K Netflix. Setup VPN on router require a $300 router to handle high speed encrypt/decrypt and not convenient alternatively.

    But it is vey tricky buying games in another region. Once very easy as long as use VPN but very hard now.

      I have a decent router (Asus running Merlin, with a few VPN clients set up). But yeh I would like something I can implement the VPN at device level. Could I set up two parts on this, for example, two clients, one English and one UK and if so would I need the corresponding apps?
      I would never play games on this so that's not a concern.

      And one more question, sorry would the tube shield do this too?

      Hey mate do you recommend any Android media box to play just US Netflix? I don't need anything else and I think the shield is overkill.

      Would like to install vpn on it for the netflix

  I love my 2017 Shield, its one of the best pieces of electronics I ever bought.

  Have HBO Now, Hulu, Prime, Stan, Sling, Netflix, Tubi, iptv and all AU catch up running on it, UK tvplayer, Now TV - it can play nearly everything
  Retrox for emulation
  Using Getflix Smart DNS

  So much easier to sideload on the Shield, Fire TV was a pain with no ethernet, Mi Box too slow.

  Would love the new remote, I keep sitting on the touch sensitive remote in the dark and pausing stuff.

    i dont touch the remote with mine, I got a sony andriod tv and it works with that TV's remote…but laggy but not unusable.
