New Techfast Pc Is Shocking

Just bought a pc from techfast (By which I mean I bought it 6 weeks ago and it finally arrived).
Just as soon as I got it, i took out all the plastic from inside, pluged in the ac, and pressed the power button, zap!
Nice sharp shock, RCD triggered in the house.
I was wrong, techfast didn't take my money and run, they tried to blow me up.
Don't order from them!

Anecdotal commentary holds no value to anyone. Contact them and see what they say.

And what did techfast say? stfu?

  • +29

they tried to blow me up

And they would've gotten away with it if it wasn't for those meddling ozbargainers.

  • Which PSU did they use in your machine? The basic PSUs used in their rigs can be hit and miss.

  • +1

I assume that the PSU has an ON / OFF switch at the back.
1 - Connect the PC to the socket with the PSU - OFF
2 - Then turn the PSU switch ON.
3 - Turn the PC on.
4 - If it doesn't work (i.e. no PC light/activity) then a good chance your PSU is shot
    Good luck

My techfast PC has been humming along nicely. Would happily buy from them again!

    • +4

      humming along

      Coil whine?

      • +4

        No, other kind of hummer.

        • Does that cost extra?

  • +2

That's why I build my own. Prebuilt PC alot of the time skimp out on the PSU.

  • +4

Does it have a Platinum rated PSU? Anything less is poverty

In Soviet Russia, PC reboot you.

  • What's happened to you is actually a blessing in disguise.

At least you will get a refund - In over 1 month, Slow aus post delivery back, then tech"fast" confirmation of DOA.

  • Nice sharp shock

Are you saying you were electrocuted by the power button?

    • +1

The 240ac side got connected to the 5v DC side, and went through the plastic, a known excellent conductor. What's so hard to believe?

      • +2

I'm more surprised diji1 didn't blame the electricity company

        • And in turn, Liberal/Labour

        • Professor Rodney Sims said privatised electricity has "severely damaged" the economy in 2016.

What's surprising to me is the fools happily losing their own money.

Which is what is causing the "severe damage" to the economy.

While pretending that an economic theory predicted reality and they actually aren't losing their own money.

          See what you did!

You get what you pay for. Never bought from TechSlow but if I did I would immediately change the PSU like everyone has been saying in almost every single deal of theirs.

    • +1

Or just upgrade the PSU to gold rated Gigabyte offered? That seems to be a reasonable PSU from reviews.

      • +1

Depends if the PSU took other stuff with it. Assuming the PSU grenaded.

Just look at the many Youtube video by some of the more popular Youtubers like "Bitwit". He just did a lengthy video on the subject of pre-builts vs DIY, and clearly shows all the corner-cutting these companies selling the pre-builts make. Cheap and Nasty PSU's is one of them. Techfast is no different. Cheap cases, garabage PSU's, single stick of RAM (on 8GB systems), second-tier branded components (BioStar) and entry-level motherboards to mention a few.

Their prices look great for a reason, and although they may work for 10+ years, I could not recommend their builds (or any pre-builts). I would much rather spend $xxx more dollars and build a system with top-tier components.

      • +2

        Not everyone needs that.

      • +1

I have one of theirs. Works fine, they're mostly transparent with the quality (cheap) of the components and upgrade paths.
I opted for a few upgrades, case, psi, ram, etc.

One thing they did miss was configuring the ram to make it run at spec'd Freq.

OK, so you have a dead PSU. Maybe you should contact them? PSU's fail. They are probably the first component to fail on a PC. So, lodge a DOA claim!

I've had name brand PC power supplies go DOA on arrival before, but I don't slag off the vendor.

    • Yeah I had a Seasonic platinum PSU dead on arrival. Then the replacement did the same. Bought from Amazon. It can happen to anyone.

      • Ouch, that is super unlucky. From one of the best PSU brands in the world.

        • +1

I still rate them as probably the best in the industry even though the first one sparked when I turned it on lol

  • I assume they test them before shipping them out, so that ol 110v/240v switch shouldn't be goes boom in Aust position, yeah?

    • They do.

  • Contact them about it, maybe you can get a refund. Shit happens.

  • My guess is that you plugged in the AC cable while the PSU switch was on. Silly silly.

    • +1

not really. the problem is the psu. Techfast gives out "budget" psu so yea.

      • He was just unlucky, my PSU has been humming fine. Although I think my PSU is a step above the non painted budget units.

  • Lol that very true especial for the average consumer that there PSU gives out from time to time low grade ones have a certain fail rate and if not ground properly then will give you nasty shock, up to u really i don't this is a Techfast thing.

Received my PC after 25 business days.
DOA, appears to be a dead GPU. Vertical lines upon boot up, blue error screen and only 1 of the HDMI ports work.
Currently waiting on support to advise on next steps

  • I recommended Techfast to a friend who bought it in late 2019, he is now up to this 4th warranty claim. so overall i am no impressed. you get what you pay for i guess.
