Any Tyre Sales? April 2020

The best price I can find for Japanese is Bridgestone SuperCat $142 each, but 4th is free.

After reading some forums, the only decent Chinese Tyre seems to be the Winrun R330? I can get these $95.

It's difficult to find good Tyres for this profile for my Ford Focus at an affordable price.

Any suggestions, or just pick my poison? :|

  • Winrun are crap. I wish I was paying $142 a tyre with buy 3 get one free.

    • The reviews in Supercats aren't great tho 😬

      • Then get something better? Plenty of decent stuff around that price I'd say.

Turanza serenity available in that size, $100 off if you get 4. I'm getting some next week, previous owner put them on the car at 50k km, they've now done 115k km and are only stuffed because the wheel alignment wasn't done, wouldve got another 20k I'd say.

      • Supercats last pretty well but they are squeelie in the dry and slippery bad in the wet.
        Get something better.

    • What about Vikings from Kmart?

Have never had anything to do with them, but if they aren't a known brand (Bridgestone, Kumho, Conti etc), they are likely not that good.

    Motherhood statement.
The only things between your car (and life) and the road is the tyres.
Don't compromise your safety trying to save a couple of bucks

And if it only saves you once a year, it’s a Goodyear.

      • +2

And if it only bridges one stone, it's a Bridgestone.

        • +1

And if it only wins one run, it's a Winrun.

      • what do you do with 365 used condoms ? Melt them down, make a tyre and call it a Goodyear.

Depends on the car, I'd suggest Bridgestone Turanza. Yes they do cost more, I have some Bridgestone Ecopia Ep300 on the Corolla and Camry.

Noooooooo no Winrun. They are the nosiest tyre I have ever put on a vehicle. The road noise was deafening. They lasted about a month on my car after the tyre fitter did 3 wheel alignments thinking that was the issue. They were rotated front to back and still the noise persisted. Changed out the tyres and the noise disappeared. Put the old wheels back on and the noise came straight back.

Do not buy Winrun tyres. Spend the little bit extra for your sanity and safety. I swear that the Winrun tyres were made out of old, melted down 2litre Coke bottles. There was almost no grip in the dry and even less when it rained.

Agree. My experience with cheap tyres was that they are the noisiest by far. They also didn’t last long. They are not worth the savings.

      • Thanks, I'll stick to the Bridgestone or see what else I can find.

  • Bob Jane has Ecsta PS71 on offer, can't find my profile tho. They have 45/17, my currents are 50/17.

  • Michelin are doing $100 off,on 4 tyres sold.

    • Yeah, but I don't need high performance tyres for on a Ford Focus!

Bob Jane actually has a few sales, so I'll call and get quotes and maybe K-Mart will price match and I can get something around $400-450

Not much available in my profile, very limited options.

$200, so $600 would be for a high performance tyre.
Chinese tyres cost $400, the Supercat around $450. I can't find much inbetwewen!

      • Quite often Continental has buy 4 pay for 3 offer. Have a look @ Michelin “XM2s”,these are a volume seller for most passenger vehicles.Very reasonably priced too.

  • K_mart says it'll match, I found deals on 225/45/17 which will fit on my car.
Hankook Optimo K415 Tyre $455 fitted
    Maxxis HP5 Premitra $480 fitted

    I'm unsure which is better!
K-Mart offered to match, he said they were making a loss on the Hankook but offered me top of the range continentals for $500! Normally $660

Hankook shock wouldn't be in til next week! Lesson is ringing around pays dividends!

    • $500 for Continentals sounds very good although depends on what kind. Only similar option I’d go for would be this https://www.tempetyres.com.au/tyreproducts?pirelli-2155017-9…

Good price, definitely wasn't showing for me last time I looked!

I'm in SA, I don't think they are here. I actually went to price match them for the Hankooks and I didn't want to wait 4 days as I had a flat. Hence I paid $500, but I did get matched for $455 for Hankooks
