      A demo is a deal?

  • Are Nintendo giving away any actual freebies like some others are? Or just this 1 week trial?

    • +2

Tetris 99 comes free with the membership I guess? Also SNES and NES games. This seems similar to when Arms went on trial. You'll be able to purchase the game at a discount while the trial is going on.

      • +1

Was arms actually reduced? Kids had fun playing but once I realised the trial was over it was full price.

        • It was during the trial, not after.

        • I don't remember ARMS being explicitly advertised as having a discount during the demo period. Which is not to say they didn't offer it, just that maybe they didn't do a very good job promoting the discount.

But the email that was just sent out by Nintendo Australia absolutely does advertise a 33% off discount on Splatoon 2 in the eShop during the demo period:

Cool! I've heard Abit about this game seems good I'll wait for the trial

  • +1

So it's in 8 days. If I didn't use my regular trial, will start it today, and then will get the extra one, it will give me 2 weeks right?

  • Man this game maintains its price even to this day.

    • +2

That's the Switch (and Nintendo) for you

    • +4

Nintendo multiplayer could be dead online and it would still be $80/90.

    • +1

Majority of the Nintendo games maintain their price really well. I still remember seeing Mario Kart on the DS for $65 4-5 years ago despite being a 15 year old game now….

    • For people who buy Nintendo games, play them until they're done, and sell them online, it's a good thing!

    • Just the prices of no1 though, 15 posted on cash concerters. WiiU games have no value.

      • Wii U games have no value

Yep. The real bargain is always in the comments.

People be buying A $600 used switch and getting Mario Kart 8 and Zelda and Mario U for $60+ each, and I'm just sitting here playing them in 1080p @ 60 FPS on Cemu (bought all 3 games for $80 total).

    • Nintendo is very good at price fixing. They have been fined multiple times but unfortunately nothing recent. They are the sole distributor for games in every country except Belgium (due to their relationship with the guy who brought Nintendo to the west). One distributor, one publisher, shortage of physical games due to their focus being on stopping piracy over everything else. So not only is every port on switch more expensive than their PS4/xb1 counterparts but Minecraft which was released on switch in 2017 is $40 whereas the ps4 copy which only released late last year is $25.

  • They recently announced that they're bringing back a re-do of a Splatfest between 22/5/20 and 24/5/20, I wonder why Nintendo is suddenly paying attention to Splatoon?

    • Because it’s a great game

    • Splatoon 3?!?! :O

    • It brings attention to a series that's starting to lose a bit of momentum, but is of a high quality that a lot of later Switch adopters would have overlooked considering its history as an early Switch title and prior to that, a Wii U title.

It helps that a lot of people have a lot of time too. And there's room to do more with the series even if it's not a full true sequel just yet.

This is one of the most amazing game I’ve played.

  • +1

still waiting for Nintendo gift card to go on discount.

  • The demo is now downloadable on the Eshop. Looking forward to giving this game a go.

  • @dealbot your Official Announcement link goes the US site, which only shows 30% discount.
Here is the Aus link https://www.nintendo.com.au/try-the-splatoon-2-special-demo also showing 33% discount for Splatoon 2 during the demo period

  • +3

Demo (4.0GB in size) is now downloadable, which is labeled as “Splatoon 2 Special Demo 2020” and the code for the 7-day trial shows up right after clicking “Confirm download” from the eshop page.

7-day trial code won’t redeem on active memberships, therefore no stacking and expires 6th of May 2020.

Lastly, the full game will discount to $52.77 (33% off $79.95 RRP) between 30th of April to 6th of May.
