  • No reviews on Kogan. Has anyone tried this?

    • The cheapie version has reasonably good reviews for a low end blended Scotch. I can't seem to find a review anywhere for the 12YO though.

    • their normal version is terrible.. but good when you have no other choice lol

    $55 at Liquorland - still a discount - but not 50%

    Was $90…..

    Yeah right

    • +1

      Exactly!

Most vague whisky description I've ever read - it could just as easily be describing a used cigarette butt.

    • +2

Probably how they got the "smokiness" flavour in the first place. Butt it in the Barrel.

.. and it's comment "Black Douglas is a generic whisky. Taste ok but that is because it is flavour enhanced. Leaves no flavours in the mouth afterwards which is a sign of quality whisky."

  • I was wondering about the RRP$90…..lmao - I'd have Johnnie Green over this at $90 ANY day.

  • I used to buy the standard Black Douglas whenever I wanted to stock up on cheap alcohol w/ coke (I have 4 empty bottles at home right now, one half full). At first it was okay, but I kinda hate it now. The flavour is hard to describe, but it's not great. Kinda sweet, but not like bourbon. Don't get me wrong, I'd still buy and drink it with coke if it's the best deal available. But I personally wouldn't "splurge" ($43 isn't that bad) on this, especially after the BWS and Liquorland deals yesterday. At $90, you're (profanity) dreaming.

  • Agree with other posters that $90 is crazy, but for $43 this is not bad at all. It's the lowest price point for a 12yo blend that I can currently see (with only a quick look - Dimple 12 is around the same mark).

Note that the CUB ebay price is $53.

    • I'm not a whiskey drinker, but some of my friends that are really like dimples for a decent priced whiskey. I usually get one of them a 12yo Dimples on her birthday.

    • Doubt it would be as good as the 1L Johnnie Black Label for $45 the other day

  • Monkey shoulder can be bought for another 10 bucks at liquor land.

I'll stick to my Aldi black

Original Price of $90 for Black Douglas 12 years,700 ML is highly inflated, I remember not paying more than $35-$40 last year or year before for this at Danny…..

    • +1

I don't think that would be the 12 year age statement version. The no age statement version is currently $32 at Liquorland so could be the one you had.

      • -1

You might be correct but I would still argue $90 for 12 yr 700 ML Black Douglas as a base price to be inflated

  • -1

yep, no way this is a $90 drink. Its on a par with (or maybe even worse than) johnnie walker red. Probably ok for those who mix it with coke etc, but as a whisky drinker I wouldnt go near this.

  • +1

So it's a blend…at this price you can get much better/reviewed/known whiskeys like Chivas, Ballentine…and the list goes on…

  • just received mine today. haven't tried it yet. hopefully after work.

worked out a great deal of 3 and the $25 cash back from Amex.

I think it will be the equivalent of JW Black but will see.

  • Thanks OP, have ordered.
Anybody knows when the Amex credit $25 would come in?
