Acer 34″ IPS Gaming Monitor UM.CX0SA.P03 worth upgrading?

Been looking at this ultrawide for the past week or so.
It doesn't seem like it's available anywhere else or than Bing Lee.

How does this monitor compare to X34P?
I am using an 29' 1080p 60Hz ultra-wide from LG, would the UM.CX0SA.P03 be a decent upgrade?

  • Holy heck, this is the first I've heard of this monitor. It looks like it might even literally the replacement for the X34P because the model number for the X34P is UM.CX0SA.P02 and it's 2 years old now. It's also better in almost every way with fake HDR, faster refresh, lower response time, all while being $400 cheaper than the X34P. The only issues I see with it is the lack of native G-Sync (not an issue with Freesync), it's flat not curved, and looks like Freesync 1 instead of 2!

The curve thing is a pretty big one for me, so I'm not sure if I'd go this over a X34P - but definitely looks very good for the price. Unfortunately I can't find any reviews on it at all.

In terms of an upgrade for you, it would be fairly significant. You'd be going from ~95PPI to ~109PPI so higher density while still also being larger. And you really do notice the difference a lot at higher refresh rates. Keep in mind that it's around an 80% increase in the number of pixels you'll be displaying at full 3440x1440 resolution compared to 2560x1080, so you will need a very respectable graphics card to pump that out at native resolution at a high frame rate.

    • yeah i am kinda sitting on the fence on this monitor. i would have brought it if it was curved.

But the other thing is that there is no reviews on it at all, it's not even listed on the Acer website.

Might just sit on the for a little longer or when there are reviews and see how good this monitor is.

  • I own a X34P and it is a fine monitor. The problem with the monitor you are suggesting is it being flat at that size. I would definitely advise against a flat monitor that is that big because the very edges of the monitor really fall outside your viewing angle and it gets wasted. I'd used a 29" flat (like yours) at work and even at that size it was starting to be a problem. As much as many people say curved monitors are a gimmick, they really are not. I'm really disappointed that TVs have now gone away from it but at that viewing distance it's less of a problem. For large, ultra wide monitors a curve is a must. Keep that in mind.

    • Is the X34P worth the dosh?

      • i would say so. if you search through past x34p deal it is mostly positive comment on that monitor.

  • I have 34 ultrawide at work and at home. Neither are flat, I don't see flat being an issue. Large monitors like this tend to have some backlight bleed, especially towards the edges. It's less noticeable on my work display, but I'm not doing any critical viewing there…

I would only buy a monitor with strong reviews, if you want a gamble at this size, the Logan looks interesting.

    • sorry but can i ask what 34 inch ultrawide are you using at home, is it for gaming or just general use?

I might wait for review for this monitor before getting it, but the price is very tempting for a 144hz 1400p ultrawide.

  • This is really interesting and you're right, doesn't seem to be available anywhere else yet in stock for 2 hour pick up at all their stores.

It's almost $1,000 cheaper than the X34P with higher refresh rate yet still IPS. Seems to good to be true especially as not bothered by curved screen. Have a flat 32" currently and it's perfectly fine.

It's resolved the stand issue too: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6AnexXC0ooc

  • Its the acer Nitro XV340CKP

They have them on sale in the USA for $379.00 (RRP $549 USD) This sale looks like its ended in the US.

    Tempted on this.

    Review below:

Reviews popping up on YouTube too.

I almost bought a VA panel but this looks better for FPS gaming

    • you are right, they seem like the exact same monitor.

Most of the review seem positive, definitely look very tempting.

      Too bad it's not curve.

      • The below IIYAMA I posted is coming out in both curved and flat. No word yet though if the curved panel is also IPS or VA.

Selling in Europe for less than 500 euros

  • Also consider this coming out soon

    Flat and curved version

    G-MASTER GB3461WQSU

    G-MASTER GB3466WQSU

    • since we usually get stuff 2-3months after the US, does this mean it would probably be another 3months+ before we see this arrive in Aus?

  • No idea. Im personally not a huge fan of ultrawide and prefer the more square monitor. So will likely pass on these although the prices look great.

    Now to find a 16:9 144hz 32 or 34 inch IPS

    • 16:9 is definitely not square :P

      • 2560x1440 :)

  • Anyone grab one of these yet?

  • I wanted to buy it, but seems to be sold out everywhere except Harvey Norman, who want to charge $200 more than Bing Lee.

  • Also, the aspect ratio is 16:9 and not 21:9.
