How Do You Ask for The Restaurant to Cook Everything at The Same Time?

I was at a Restaurant and they start cooking the main after they clear your plates for the entrees. And same for dessert.

How do you ask for the restaurant to cook everything at the same time?

Because I spent over 2 hours at a restaurant and more than half the time I was waiting for the food.

    O.o by asking the waiter/waitress??

    Ask for "takeaway".

You'd probably be surprised to learn that they're not just cooking for you alone. It also gives you time to absorb the food and appreciate the flavours of the meal.

I'd call your order ahead of time if you can't wait and say you want it all laid out at once buffet style.

Such a misleading title . I thought you were served your entree, main and desert at the same time which would be strange.

Because I spent over 2 hours at a restaurant and more than half the time I was waiting for the food.

It would only be a problem if I was dining alone. If I was on a date, I wouldn't mind at all. What's the rush?

    • I was on a date, my meal came first, about 20 - 30 minutes later her plate finally came. Mine was already totally devoid of warmth.

      • That's not what you said in your OP:

I was at a Restaurant and they start cooking the main after they clear your plates for the entrees.
        And same for dessert.

But if that was the case then that was totally unacceptable. Did you ask to speak to the chef/manager?

        • Manager barely seemed to care, which suprised me. Oh well, it's on my black list now.

          • @MatthewTeng: Care to name and shame?

@[Deactivated]: One of my clients does their marketing and advertising, best I don't mention too much or burn any bridges.

              Not famous anyway.

        • Oops sorry. I just realised that you're not OP.

      • Worst date ever ?

    • It takes me 1 hour to get to the restaurant so I want to leave not too late

How could you have eaten in a restaurant?

    • Yeah, I thought it is takeaway only…

      • It was before the corona lockdown

  • Baragin?

  • Say you're in a hurry as you have a plane to catch / babysitter to get back / show to start ….

Maybe they took so long to cook because they kept one eye out for the cops during this lock down period.

  • The longer it takes them, the more they make from alcohol sales i suspect

    What is a Restaurant?

Watch videos of starving kids in Cambodia while you are waiting…I'm sure it will make your problem less annoying…

    • …..how would it?

  • Just open your mouth and ask ?
    First world problem ! lol

You ask them when you are ordering. "Can I please have my entree, mains, and desert come out at the same time". Use yours words like an adult.

Just don't expect them to come out as quickly as the just the entrees coming out would be.

Maybe a buffet style restaurant would be a better alternative?

    • ^^This^^
I think OP was definitely in the wrong type of restaurant.
      The other option is McDs

OMG seriesly!? You just ask when ordering for everything to come out together.

So order your food, and then say, can it all come out together.

99% of the time you won't get dessert coming out with the bulk food, understandable, as if its cold etc, it'll melt.

I was waiting for the food.

My pet peeve is when you ask for it to all come out together and this has happened a few times as asian food places, they bring out meat/veg dishes and more and its like, ummmm can we have the rice so we can start!? Its steamed rice, so its 'ready'. Just strange service.

  • …but McDonalds can do it. ¯_(ツ)_/¯

  • Some waiters/waitresses will ask if you want them out separately or all at once…so as said above, you can just ask for it to all come at once.

    • It's not that simple. All at once might mean " don't bring anything until the last dish is ready" I just want everything brought as soon as it is ready. Seems more difficult to communicate than it should be, especially if you are trying not to be rude.
