TV Recommendation : 100HZ Low Input Lag, 8 Bit 10Bit VA IPS TN Dolby Atmos Dolby Vision HDR 4K

REGARDLESS OF SIZE OR 4K CAPABILITY OR OPERATING SOFTWARE ETC I am looking for a T.V. that fulfils the following criteria. Any other suggestions welcomed.
OLED is not necessary but in saying that please offer suggestions for it. I'd prefer to buy in 2 price ranges: Option 1 - Under $2000. Option 2 under $1000.
I don't care for any gimmicks, marketing features, cute software tricks or being able to flush my toilet from my tv. Just pure TELEVISION screen performance.

Necessary:
- NATIVE 100HZ - TRUE NATIVE 100 (no gimmicks)
- Under 10ms input lag (prefer around 5ms)

Would like:
Over 40inch size
8 BIT panel minimum
4K capable
Dolby Atmos or similar
Dolby Vision OR HDR10

Other:
Screen mirroring function
Any spec recommendations etc

Why would Atmos be useful on the TV? That's what amps are for…

Also high refresh rate and low input lag. That's what monitor is for.

  • If your main thing is picture quality, get OLED. Or find an old Panasonic or pioneer plasma and give up on 4k.

    • I have a TH-P50V20A

      • Wasn't that the budget version? Even still, blacks on led TVs will probably disappoint you.

        • No idea mate i literally picked it up 6 months ago for $80 off a guy who didn't know MPEG4 setting was a thing to tune in HD channels. You might be right; i might have to go OLED. Thanks

          • @100KK: Pretty much the same thing happened to me! I got a P58S20A. Great for gaming. What games do you want it for?

    • What about screen burn in, have they sorted that yet?

      • I think that only happens with cheaper plasma panels. The good ones don't get burn in. I could be wrong.

        • Plasma is not immune to burn in, just like oleds

IS every single comment on here going to be an attention seeking nit picking troll starting wanna be intelligent banter ( i've run out of dumb ars* expressions) or anyone here actually going to recommend me some tvs? I know online people are a bit special & like to flex their lowest of their low but really i was just looking for … a model number in either price range or thereabouts. Has ozbargain gone down this far or is this just how everyone behaves/interacts online or in society to anything on any topic?

    • I know online people are a bit special

It takes a super special one to ask for tv help from the regular special ones.

      • No i am just normal but i'll give up while i am "super special" ahead.

    • +3

Well what has your research found so far?

Or are you the super special one who doesn't know how to google, and expects everyone else to do their research for them?

      • Ok looks like you just want to be spoon-fed then.

        Carry on

        • omfg i've done enough searching around i just want to see what other people have found or opinions/suggestions as i am sure i am not the 1st with this dillema

          • @100KK: You make no impression that you've searched

Most people would be like "oh I was looking at this TV, is there a better option you'd suggest?", not giving a fkn shopping list and ask us to do the work.

A member for over 5 years, this is your first post and that's how you follow up..

      :/

Zero effort on your behalf like 'ive found X, y and z, anyone got better suggestions or thoughts on how good they are'

Learn to google and be less 'special'

      • i signed up and posted this coz of the whole lock down…. really rarely had any use for being scummy or a bargain and b*tch and whine about how someone posts or their post or random trolling and banter that has nothing to do wit it; as it seems the quality of people on here reflect that. i'll keep being special. cheers

        • Don't let the door hit you on the way out

  • I found one which does flush the toilet from the TV. It comes out on April 1.

    • LOL glad at least you saw the funny side. I was sure someone made an app for that too :)

NATIVE 100HZ - TRUE NATIVE 100 (no gimmicks)

So basically you've been completely misled by marketing.

There are two native refresh rates: 60 and 120. Theoretically there can be native 240Hz TVs (and even 480 and higher) but I don't think these exist.

So you probably want 120Hz which is a good idea.

    • Thanks for the 1st half decent reply amongst all that racket… I am looking for a TV ; not monitor. I know the old TVs and even the current ones are 50/60hz. I am fairly sure in Australia there's only the 50 or 100 hz refresh available in TV's. I know computer monitors do all sorts of crazy 144hz etc and it's getting to the point where I am thinking ; get a "BIG" gaming monitor i.e. 26+ inches and just use some kinda other device i.e FETCH box if i want to view free to air TV. Obviously that kinda eliminates using it as a living room TV due to it's small size. I think someone else touched on a good idea looking at OLEDs I was just hoping to find something a littler more "budget" that can kinda do both jobs until OLED reaches more maturity in a year or two and production catches up with current situation.

    • Under 10ms input lag (prefer around 5ms)

On a TV? You might be able to get that with some sets in some modes, buuuuut….

    LG B9 Oled has:
    1080p @ 120 Hz 7.0 ms
    1440p @ 120 Hz 7.0 ms

But you will need a computer or Xbox One to output at that res and refresh rate.

    Samsung Q70 has:
    1080p @ 120 Hz 5.8 ms
    1440p @ 120 Hz 6.1 ms

    Likewise for the limited devices.

LG has been under your $2000 bracket for the 55", but I'm not sure about Q70.

Note that for all other resolutions you are looking at higher input lag.

I'd pretty comfortably say "forget it" for anything under $1000.

Get on rtings.com and look at their sets. You don't want the bells and whistles, likely because you think they add expense. Really they don't, it's what you do want does.

    • Hmmm ok learn something new everyday. It seems LED have really kinda skipped a beat in progress since i was last looking at TV's with i.e. "local dimmin" or "full array dimming" and "100 hertz" and getting HIGH NITs number. OLED just as a technology came at us quick and it seems like it's the technology future platform / innovations will be built on. It just seems tv industry still hasn't got their sh*t together in transparency and standards for the real numbers that matter. Thanks

      • OLED great for blacks. But local dimming lets LED get pretty deep blacks too, plus with HDR they can get super bright.

        • Yep OLED is probably the way to go … a B9 or C9 … would be good to get full array LED local dimming but RU8000 seems the best option so far there.

          • @100KK: Can always buy the OLED now and then buy a good LED later when they are bright enough to shoot lasers out of the screen. It's only money and you can put the OLED in your room.

  • You've got the Refresh Rate and the Input Lag as necessary. Do you plan to use this with your PC or console?

I personally came from the RU8000 55" and 65" which was used for both the Xbox and 2080 RTX. Recently upgraded to the LG C9. It was the best decision. No major issues from the Ru8000 just really wanted better picture quality and deeper, consistent blacks (RU8000 had dirty screen effect/light blemishes), plus the native 120hz and G-sync capability.

Don't let anybody tell you differently. The Dolby Atmos and and Dolby Vision built in makes a huge difference both in sound quality and device compatability. Even out of the box without an AVR. I.E RU8000 does not have Dolby Vision or built in Atmos support, so your Netflix or streaming app installed directly on the TV won't be Atmos or Vision capable, even if you've got a Atmos capable AVR system connected to the TV. You'll have to run a passthrough like an Xbox connected to your AVR (mines the HW-Q90R soundbar) then AVR to TV. If you don't have an external device capable of Atmos like an Nvidia Shield TV, then factor in the extra cost for the Ru8000. But for the C9, Dolby Vision and Atmos support straight from the in built apps and internal audio, and of course to your Dolby Atmos enabled AVR if you have one. Been researching for a long time before buying so if you have any questions just let me know.

Agree with you on the LG C9 and RU8000; I have done quite a lot of due dilligence myself. I am not familiar with AVR etc too much Audio but i did know Dolby vision and atmos were definitely worth The best advice/feedback I got was on the whirlpool forum; pretty legit guys there. You should head there yourself if you aren't already a member… heaps of to and fro in a lot of posts but that;s the nature of forums/posts lol atleast over there they seem more genuine with advice/ knowledge/intel. I'll inbox to get some feedback on something i've come across WAY under $1000 that has everything i was looking for or very much all of the above.

OK so after research and a lot of to and fro the bottom line is these are " THE BEST 4K TV you can buy as of 30/04/2020 "

I am taking 55" inch as the baseline size as any smaller then this kinda is a waste of having a 5K T.V. and as mentioned by others get a LARGE gaming monitor and plug in something like a Fetch box for free to Air TV or e.g. the Nvidia Shield / Pro.

    LED:
    BUDGET - TCL P8S - HISENSE R7
    MID RANGE - HISENSE R8
    TOP RANGE - SAMSUNG RU8000 / TU8000
    BEST: SONY X8000H

    OLED :
    BUDGET: HISENSE PX
TOP RANGE: LG B8 OR B9
BEST: LG C8 OR LG C9

End of topic. End of thread. Thank you all.
