Your Success Rate with ShopBack?

Hey guys, just wanted to see all of your experiences with Shopback?

I've had a pretty poor experience thus far and I've done everything to try to mitigate the potential of untracked cashbacks/rejected claims but it still continues to happen I'd say 60-70% of the time.

Is it just me or are there others with the same experience? Weird thing is I almost never have issues with Cashrewards, the only time something did not track and the store followed up on it with the store. It was back and forth for over 7 months because the store NEVER communicated with CR during this time (lol) and they ended up fulfilling it anyway

100% less one time with Hey You.

  • 99%

  • 100% tracked and confirmed, I mostly forget to activate in othertimes
I am using chrome without any adblockers or tracking blockers just for shopback.

  • They use the same affiliate networks and tracking, so I'd suspect it might be an issue with particular retailers (that offer higher shopback rates hence why u use them there) .

Rejected usually means you're using a coupon or similar that doesn't qualify for cashback

FWIW my rate whilst not 100pct is good enough.

Not too sure what I'm doing wrong then :( Use no promo codes, no extensions, access the site through SB and add the item to cart, etc. I do tend to purchase during upsized events though…

My most recent one was rejected from the store because they didn't attribute it to SB apparently when I submitted a claim.

      • I had the same problem with the recent Adidas sale even though they acknowledged that I shopped through their platform.

  • always tracks unlike cashrewards

Never had an issue with cashrewards, never used shopback.

I always use internet explorer or edge for these so I don't have to worry about my addons blocking tracking etc - it's probably the one thing those browsers are actually good for.

      • I'm going to have to start doing that. Neither Firefox nor Chrome work all the time for me.

    95%

  • 100%, not including ones rejected where i used a non-listed promo code or returned/cancelled an order. Also 100% with Cashrewards apart from one time i accidentally had Honey extension activated, that really sucked.

  • 2 not tracked. I wassnt sure if i used did it properly and another i was sure i did correctly but wasnt tracked. (because it was $50). I contacted them about it and they added it manually.

  • There is 1 $2 bonus that was not tracked for me. This was back in January/February and then another one in February. The latter was tracked but not the former.

Didn't really chase it but it is enough for me keep an eye on future claims. Cashrewards no problem although I am finding Shopback has so much more variety than Cashrewards.

    That's another story to tell.

Not sure if coincidence but that missing $2 has now gone through… today lol

  • Taking to long and cookie times out

  • 97%

1 didn't track from the browser extension. 37 others tracked using either the site or extension.

Support fixed up the one that didn't track within 4 days.

My rules for 100% tracking rate:

    • DO NOT USE PRIVATE/INCOGNITO BROWSER WINDOW/TAB
    • Disable any adblock browser extensions
    • ENABLE Cashrewards/ShopBack browser extension
    • Click through casback link on website
    • Click again through cashback link on browser extensions
    • Confirm with the extension that the cashback is being tracked
    • Pay within minutes to ensure the session doesn't time out

Never failed and all of my purchases get tracked on both Cashrewards and ShopBack.

  • 90-95% odd one or two that doesn’t get tracked or credited.

I have stopped using ShopBack for a while now, and only use Cashrewards. Not because of non-tracking, retailers rejecting cashbacks or any other technical reasons – all these I can understand. But customer service and attitude is why I avoid Shopback now.

I took up a bonus SB offer, promoted in a post here, which was supposed to stack with another offer, in another post. Someone mentioned that s/he had confirmed this with the SB rep. The bonus amount was not credited when it was due. It was not a big amount, but since it was quite easy to do, I thought I would make a missing claim (I included the OzBargain post links as evidence).

As a reasonable person, if a mistake was made and the bonus should not apply, I would have no problems with that. They just needed to respond and let me know. I did not receive any response (although the claim page said a response could be expected in 14 days or whatever).

Thinking it was just an overlooked/missed case, I sent another email, mentioning this earlier claim. No response again. I would understand if my emails were rude or self-entitled etc. But they were civil, polite, laying out the facts, that’s all.

So, I see no reason to use SB anymore. Since customer service from Cashrewards is top-notch. Cashrewards’ differentiation is clearly in the customer service which I happen to value highly. I mean, you only need to look at how responsive TA is as a Rep.

Separately, SB sent out generic emails asking for feedback about their missing claim experience, which I subsequently gave after this episode. I don’t hold out much hope that they take the feedback seriously. Of course, it did occur to me that I might just be unlucky; perhaps the case was assigned to a disinterested/disgruntled employee or whatever. But that is quite irrelevant.

Cashrewards seems much more consistent and resolve my queries/have great service.

Admittedly only had one bad experience on shopback but was a decent amount and I don't believe it was my issue so has put me off it entirely when CR is 100% for 30+ times.

    • Same here.

Shopback rejected my claim for the recent Adidas sale (would have been an $80 cashback).

  • It tracks 100% of the time since I started using the inbuilt browser in the Shopback Android App for making the actual purchase.

When using my normal desktop browser (Firefox), I had a quite a few issues with tracking, even after turning off my Ad Blockers.

  • I have an outstanding issue with a CR purchase right now. I decided to give them more of a chance after putting most of my purchases through SB in the past. Hope they come through on this one

Cashrewards has better customer service and better cashback tracking than Shopback.

Yep after Dan Murphy's debacle I will not be using them and advise anyone who is considering using either to use Cash Rewards - never had an issue with them. Shopback got greedy and it's a shame to see.

    • My Dan Murphy’s cashback was rejected as well during the 20% cashback recently.

  • What on earth is shop back? I'm so confused. Is it worth the effort?

If you shop online a fair bit, then signing up to a cashback provider is probably worth it.
Cashrewards and ShopBack are just the common ones used by OzBargain members.

To get a better feel of how it works, what it entails etc, have a look at this Cashrewards FAQ.

      Hope this helps.

  • Small cashback amounts are ok but for their larger promos like the recent Iconic 20% Cashback I always get knocked back despite doing nothing different to all the other purchases.

I stupidly made an order of $100 during the 20% iherb cashback the other day. Did everything correctly, even made sure the code used was from their site. It didn't track, now they're telling me the order was not attributed to shopback, so too bad. I won't be using them again, they appear to be well dodgy.

My issue with Shopback is the atrocious customer service compared to Cashrewards. Sometimes technical issues occur. But it's not my fault if I follow the link correctly and, say, a cookie expired or something wasn't transmitted correctly. The site should honour the deal if you earnestly followed the steps. It's particularly problematic on recent deals which offer, say, 20 or 25% cash back — I would not have made that purchase if it were not for the cash back. We're no longer talking 2 to 5% here.

For what it's worth, 0 of my 2 uses of Shopback have not gone through correctly (so, 0% initial success rate). I had to follow up with them on multiple occasions to correct it. Granted, they eventually corrected it, but it was a pain in the ass to do so. My previous experiences with Cashrewards when they didn't track it properly was much, much smoother.
