Oppo HA-2 SE Portable DAC and Headphone Amplifier $299 Delivered @ Jaben Audio

110

Decent price.
Going for around $400+ elsewhere
( Lifestylestore, Digital Cinema (HA-2) . )

Difference between HA-2 (ES9018K2M) and HA-2SE (ES9028Q2M) seems to be the DAC chip.

  • About time… 2 hours between deals!

  • I didn't even know that I needed one of these! Now I do…

  • I need my first dedicated DAC, I'm trying to get into the whole audiophile thing.

…Although, I don't really listen to much music from phone, so perhaps this would have just put some stress on me that I didn't need.

Had one of these a while ago, sold it for that exact reason. Don’t listen on my phone and if I do, it’s bluetooth all the way for convenience. Prefer my collection of high end cans, tubes, ss amps and dacs at home for proper listening sessions. So yeah, while it’s not a bad little amp/dac, there’s plenty of better options out there if you don’t need the portability.

      • I've never heard audio through one with the awareness that I do now, so I"m really interested, it's just a shame because from what I've watched and read, each DAC and sound quite different, it's about finding the one you like.

I first started with my car, I was unaware how I would respond, I just need to get an AB amp for the car and sell my class d one that I paid $650 for, I only started comprehending the whole digital and analog a few months ago, so I'm looking forward to this journey.

I won't go as far to say that DACs are snake oil (unlike super expensive cables) however, the effect they have on sound signatures is quite subtle. You're unlikely to notice any difference between most modern DACs unless you're critically listening with highly resolving equipment at the extreme end. You'd be far better off picking up a cheap Topping DAC or equivalent and put the rest of the money towards other things in the chain like amps, speakers, headphones etc. as well as researching the synergy between components. Those things will have a far greater impact on sound. Enjoy the journey!

  • i remember this was like 600+AUD
