  • Great to have a solid backup phone case.

    Thanks

Why's that? Like serious question, I only ever take my phone out of my case to clean it. Whenever I've had a case fall apart it's always done it slowly so you can order a new case well in advance.

    Funny old case the Pelican

  • Thanks so much. I used up an eye watering number of velocity points for an iPhone 11. I’ve been putting off swapping because I’ve been too tight to buy a full price case. 🤗

    • +1

      How many points?

      • +1

I purchased iphone 11 256gb for approximately 282000 points. It was a case of something is better than nothing.

I thought I paid 286,000 for the same specs. It made me sick to do it but I lost out when Ansett went under. I’ve got gift cards that are supposed to on the way still, one month after ordering them.

          • @voteoften: I'm glad you managed to redeem your points in time.

    • I did the same but am yet to receive mine :(

    On their web site:

GUARANTEED FOR LIFE: YOU BREAK IT, WE REPLACE IT…FOREVER.™

I wonder if anyone has made use of that offer.

So I use large hard Pelican cases and so do a lot of my friends (touring in the music industry). They back their warranty and are very easy to get replaced. Have had multiple friends break cases after being on literally hundreds of flights and travelling hundreds of thousands of kms. Pelican relpace them almost no questions ask.

While I realise this is a phone case, based on what I've seen from Pelican I can definitely see them replacing it.

Personally I have a Peli 1510 that has travelled around 500,000km on flights (let alone all the buses, vans, etc) and it's still going strong.

      • I have a Pelican case for photography gear which is solid as, so have yet to make use of their replacement offer. They ain't cheap but I guess you get what you pay for.

        • Mines for photography too, this thing is bullet proof.

Hopefully it never breaks as I don't want to ever damage my cameras/lenses/etc!

    • I'm assuming they'll only replace the case and not the item it's protecting if that gets broken too?

  • Can I actually go out and collect from jb hifi at Melbourne central in person? Or I will be fined for doing unnecessary trip?

      Why the neg?

    • +1

Don't think this is an essential purchase so if caught then yes, you will be fined. The chances of police stopping you is low but nevertheless it's best to avoid going out if there is no urgency and that way you stay safe and others stay safe.

    • It should be considered as essential, you need a phone to do pretty much anything these days, and a phone is expensive and costly to repair so it needs to be protected.

Therefore buying a case is essential to the phone and since having phone is essential therefore buying a case is an essential activity

See, it all depends how you rationalise your decision and whether you can convince the police officer.

Just buy some groceries at the same time.

  • Only Taupe available near me. Anyone had it? Normally go black cases.

  • Cheers, looks hella thick, but for $10 for a branded case, will give it a shot. Worst comes to worst, it’s a spare to keep around!

    • Same thought here. Happy with my current case but looks good for $10 and my local JB had it available for click and collect so why not.

      • +1

Worst comes to worst, it’s probably a good rugged case to chuck on an aging iPhone 11 Pro in 4-5 years time, to entertain future young child! (Hopefully the phone is still capable of playing The Wiggles, or whatever passes for kids entertainment, in the future!) :)

  • Up vote for me. But it looks and feels like 10x condom… so unnecessary. No thanks

    • What do you use?

  • Thanks OP

  • 15x Magnums….

  • +3

I have one of these on my iPhone 11. I do find the extra bulk annoying, especially as the phone is already a little large for my liking, but it does the job of protecting it well - the phone has suffered a number of drops on roads and footpaths and is still fine. The case might develop a little scratch or dent from the fall, but nothing major.

    Really does the job.

  • Thanks. Got one.

  • Thanks, got a Taupe one.

  • THanks OP, got a Taupe one. Hopefully matches well with my Red iPhone 11.

  • Got one thanks.

  • Just picked mine up, solid case a touch bigger than the OB Symmetry i have been using, nice to hold good grip and not slippery like the OB. Don't mind the Taupe has black front and bottom and looks good with Black camera on the SG 11 pro. Well worth the $10.

  • Got mine today! Solid case but having a good old struggle pressing the power switch sometimes!
