I think it is extortion how these camera companies charge Australians $500 more than overseas to get exactly the same product, just to be able to get manufacturer's warranty…

    • That's the "rip-off-aussie" feature that invented & enjoyed by our retailer, eg. Mr Harvey.

    • Have you thought about taxes, running cost and wages?

      • People overseas dont have taxes, running costs and wages?

Spend a bit more and get the 5D MKII

      They're completely different cameras.

      • Of course they are completely different. Your point is?

        • That saying "spend more and get THIS one" is completely pointless as a general statement. If you want the 7D, then the 5D isn't the camera you're after, most likely, so why say it?

@Mic Spend a bit more and get the same camera?

    what's with the .net domain…

Personally I would never buy from a domain with a .net.au extension but maybe that's just me.

As for the product, I guess it's okay considering it's Aussie stock.

    • Don'y worry. These people are legit. I say from experience.

How does a domain influence your online shopping? :S

To me, it's more professional to have .com.au domain but each to their own.

thats a huge premium to pay for AUS warranty…whats wrong with DWI, Citidwide, Tdimention's dorr to door warranty? is it really worth that good $500 more?

    • I've bought 2 cameras and 2 lenses from Citiwide. Haven't had to deal with a return as of yet, but their postage is worth what you pay for it (about $75) everything arrived nice and quick, with tracking.

    • This comes with Tax Invoice so if you travel, you can get GST back.

    • Thats a pretty poor price for a grey import

  • DWI have them for $1325.75 including shipping and insurance.

    • And the fact that they're grey stock should be noted in a thread about AU stock cameras.

  • The same 7D body is selling in Hong Kong (non grey product) for around A$1370 (after exchange rate of about A$1:HK$7.6). It also comes with international Canon warranty.

7D in www.d-d-photographics.com.au is cheap, but they sell grey product (or parelle import as some call it.)

  • keep in mind anything over 1k your gonna have to pay import tax/GST on…

unless of course they send it with a declared value of under $1000 and then send you a actual invoice with the correct amount.

      • Of course, Customs woke up to those tricks a long time ago, and the penalties can be significant.

        • -1

I don't see anythin been done as yet in regards to customs….becuase citiwide and such just email you the actual invoice.

        • Michaelz they have woken up to it.
My last Citiwide order (less than a month ago) was for $800, so under the threshold. But I was contacted by Customs to email them the invoice.

    • except DWI do dodgy things with the invoice to allow for that…
