Not that I know of senectus, but my daughters have all been drawn heart and soul into Max Lucado's 'Wemmick' stories ("You are Mine", "You are Special", "I wish I had a Green Nose" etc).

They're beautifully written and illustrated, and with a message that each person is created unique and special and on purpose.

I know people think Christians force their religion on their kids, but these are hands-down (and inexplicably) my 2.5y.o's favourite stories. Next comes Green Eggs and Ham. Then "Blackberry Mouse".

Check them out for yourself, they've also been wonderfully received by friends of ours as Christening presents, although they're passionately non-Christian friends, because they're so full of the right kind of things you want your kids to feel about themselves.

Actually, some of these 'god bothering' books are decent. Religious or not. =]

Even if you didn't know the book was from a Christian store, it still teaches kids about sharing, respecting parents, saying 'sorry' etc. ..and I don't want to turn this into post into anything political, because we have enough intolerance around already.

Um. What do you mean by "God Bothering"? Koorong is a Christian bookshop, most of their selection are lifestyle books. I've always found the place a tad creepy, but it has an audience and 20% off is always nice.

  • They have a great CD set of the Narnia chronicles, plus some great kids music by Aussie Colin Buchanan and some pretty entertaining kids videos like Veggie Tales.
