Best TV to Get around $1200 ?? $1400ish Max

hi, looking to get a tv for my room. need help with deciding which one might be best to get for a budget of around $1400. need it to be atleast 42". will mostly run content from my pc and laptop that have a blu-ray player and full hd output capabilities.

any help will be much appreciated..thankss

    I'd be going with panasonic: they're reliable and they're good.

    I have a 42" Panasonic plasma and has had very little use and has stipes down one side already… Not recommended. Avoid Samsung and Chinese unknown makes as well.

    I also have a LG 42" lcd and it is brilliant. Had it about 3 yrs now and is as good as the day I got it.

    Go for a LG LCD/LED and you will not have to spend the amount of $ you have mentioned either. Having both LCD and Plasma I can say that the LCD beats plasma easy.

    Sanyo's are a well made set… check out Big W or DSE for those.

      Wow… Samsung and Panasonic are two of the big players in the game, add Sony and you've rounded off the big guys….
      First paragraph just does not compute.

        If you want complete rubbish service then definitely go with Samsung. Otherwise I hear Panasonic are pretty good at resolving problems and doing repairs.

      lol LCD beats Plasma. Looks like you haven't seen a Kuro in action, otherwise you'd be blown away by the quality. That said I have a sony LED LCD and I'd say it was a good price/performance ratio and aesthetically good to look at.
      Don't be swayed by brand names, sometimes you'll find Panny leading the group other times samsung or Sony. Maybe even Sharp at times with their quattron pixel "hype".

      Whirlpool has thread, which is the best for finding good prices at non-bargain times. Try videopro as well, they used to have some pretty awesome bargains 6-8 months ago

    I haven't seen any LED TV yet with better picture quality than my 2 year old Pioneer Plasma?

    I'd definitely go with a Plasma, LCD technology is dead. All this LED TV stuff is just hype now.

    Samsung 6 series 51" plasma if you are sitting within 2 metres, $1257 from Cable Connection

    If you are further away then the 51" 4 series plasma will be fine. $749 at the Cable Connection. Its not "full HD" but you wont be able to tell the difference and save the $500.
