App to Notify Arrived at Work

hi, is there an app that will prove an employee actually turned up at a particular area?

Comments

  • Google Maps locations are time stamped.

    • And easily manipulated

  • Take a selfie with location turned on. EXIF data will be recorded.

For Android there's apps such as SnapTime that record on the photo the location/time/date. Just take a photo of anything at the location.

  • thanks, dont really like the idea of asking the person to take selfie at the premises.

would be nice if theres a time recorder app that actually indicates location too.

This app uses the phone’s location services and ‘geofencing’ technology to let users set their workplace location and automatically record when they start and finish work, based on their location.

I've been beaten by just a minute, lol

Edit: And for that, I get negged?

      • Phantom negger maybe?

    • not sure about that, if our client only pays us two hours to do one task, you cannot pay your employee simply because it took them slower to do the job, especially if other staff can do the job within two hours.

      • Actually you do have to. If your employee is crap, you need to performance manage them but you still have to pay them.

Oh, you are "one of those" employers.
How about a simple SMS message "are you there?" Or do you not trust your employees? Maybe it is time to get some new ones? Plenty of people who want to work but can't find a job at the moment.

It could be used by the employer if clients complain.

I have tradies around every other week and often, they don't show up. I also believe the opposite scenario to be true where tradies show up but no one is present.

To remove doubt, a simple time stamp with facial verification would punish bad employees and clients.

    • It is normal for businesses to keep track of worker hours using punch in machines or swipe cards.
      https://www.google.com/search?q=time+card+machine&tbm=isch&s…

They may also use the worker's online logins or vehicle tracking devices.

    • If you want to sack an employee who isn't doing their job that isn't a simple matter of saying "You're fired". There's a process involved. Part of that is offering the means for the employee to improve, part of that is documenting if they don't. Logging work (or lack thereof) is a two-for-one here.

Employees can be an expensive PITA. Anyone that has worked with others knows that is so, whether they are an employee or management. That dead weight employee that is around for 6 months? The reason they aren't just sacked is because unless you have egregious violations it can easily take that long to get rid of someone.

  • Just ask them to turn on Location sharing with you in google maps.

Install a time and attendance solution at the premises so employees clock in and out.

    • Problem is most staff members forget or get other people to sign them in.

Most of these solutions use biometrics and are linked to payroll. That stops others clocking in/out on behalf of someone else and if they don't clock in/out they don't get paid which quickly eliminates the forgetting issue. By no means is it ideal but it is a solution and a very common one.

  • I think 'Deputy' and 'Staff Hub' have this feature. All you need to do is deploy the profile to the staff's phone.

    Other Solutions:
    Network and BL Auditing
CCTV with Face and REGO recognition. - Very Expensive

I'm not installing anything work-related on my personal phone.

They'd have to give me a work one.

  • You get what you pay for. There are many payroll systems that have that functionality (such as Deputy to name one) You have options in how staff sign it such as automatically through an app in their phone by being in a certain area. You then choose to restrict whether staff can manually add data though you can see that through the backend. Tougher though if say you're a tradie and work somewhere different each day. These things aren't free though and no system is ever perfect.

  • If they are in a company vehicle, install dash cam and/or gps tracking. Don’t do it covertly though, as that may be a breach of privacy laws. Make sure all staff are aware of any surveillance devices fitted.

Is this for tardy employees or for complaining clients? Is it for call out work, or to a remote site/office?

And there is no way I would be installing anything work related on my phone that tracks what I do, where I go or where I’ve been. If you want to track that sort of thing, you need to supply them with a work phone and you need to make them aware that the device is being tracked for location tracking.

    • Dashcams with track is allowed in company vehicles. Just turn off the sound recording.

  • If you both have an iPhone you can send current location, so they could text you their current location when they arrive (which will also have the time stamp). There is likely an Android equivalent?

fingerprint time card installed on the wall. I've seen them installed at woolworths.

    • Do you want to stick your bare finger onto a sensor when you don't know whose finger has been there before you, and where that finger has been?

      • Spray alcohol and some tissues?

      • There are steps being taken across a bunch of organisations to remediate this.

  • Life360. I've used it for a few years. The free version alerts you when anyone in the circle arrives or leaves from up to 2 locations

  • We use Time Target at work. Gets a GPS location (if used on a phone.)

It's an all in one payroll system that is OneTouch enabled so everyone knows their wage inc. the ATO.

    Also Australian.
