Seiko Presage SSA409J $699.00 Was $999.00 @ Linda & Co

81

One of the cheapest for this new model. Limited edition at 6000 pieces. It's a lot but still less than Omega's 6,969 pieces on the speedy.

The Ginza district of Tokyo is home to both Seiko and Star Bar, an authentic bar in Ginza. This model is inspired by the original cocktail created by Mr. Kishi of Star Bar, the “Honeycomb”, which is made with the honey from bees farmed in Ginza. The original cocktail “Honeycomb” is created by Mr. Kishi of Star Bar. It is made from the honey of the “Ginza Honey Bee Project”, a project to collect honey from beehives in the Ginza district of Tokyo.

  • someone tell seiko no one wants open hearts

      Plenty do though.

    • I love open hearts. So ner!

At this price you would expect better performance from the movement. A swiss ETA or powermatic 80 movement would have better performance even at this price.

    • +1

its that realistic from an aus. shop? most aus. b8m stores take an arm and a leg for a swiss automatic…

      • Swiss made Tissot Watches with the Powermatic 80 movement can be found on sales at Angus and Coote or Salera's even Myer has some Tissot Models.

4R movement, hardlex glass. Mfw $700

"Limited edition at 6000 pieces. It's a lot but still less than Omega's 6,969 pieces on the speedy"

Really? Accuracy +45 to -35 seconds per day vs Omega -4/+6 seconds per day

the difference is Omega is the Ferrari of the industry… they will sell out there 7,000 piece limited editions overnight… they are also $7,000 usd

      • I would say Omega is more the Lamborghini of the industry, yes their limited editions sell out, but they don't hold their value, Rolex would be the Ferrari cause they not only hold their value but in some cases appreciate, substantially.

        • Not true - the speedy pro has gone up significantly

  • Cheers, I'll take six for my friends' birthdays.

I really like this design including the open heart but I agree that it's a bit pricey given the relatively mediocre movement inside.

    • +3

They must have just reduced the price in response to this post - it was $799 when I checked earlier. Yes, whenever I see new deals posted on a Seiko watch being sold by vendors other than Starbuy, my first reaction is to jump on Starbuy's website to check their prices :)

Edit: $789 as also mentioned by OP in the post.

For the price you're better off getting the SARB033 although at it's lowest, this was selling for $350~

    • +1

Fully agree. And being discontinued, their prices are just gonna go up and up I reckon?

      • +1

Definitely, look at what's happening with SKX's

        • +1

Crazy prices for sure. I just can't bring myself to buy these watches now knowing that they were so cheap back in the days LOL

          • +1

@ifuggedxyz: Sure, but would prefer an inferior watch? Seiko is realigning themselves to try to go upmarket. They are increasing prices and reducing specs. Still hard to beat the SARB033 or SARB035. They have hit their upper limit though because people want the latest models.

            • @ilikeit: For this amount of money I am leaning towards the Visodate. RRP around $800-$850 and Mazzucchelli's & Angus and Coote often have 20% off specials. Or buy from overseas for similar money as well. Your thoughts?

              • @ifuggedxyz: I like the Visodate. The foreign currency exchange rate is not that favourable at the moment. You'll definitely come out ahead if you buy from a grey seller like Jomashop
