    New version coming soon.

    • where did you hear that?

      • +3

New version LG SN11RG due in mid to end of may apparently which is 7.1.4 with 770W output. This version will be equivalent to SN10RG- a 5.1.2 version without the rears….

        • Apparently already available RRP $1,690:
          https://www.videopro.com.au/p-13373-lg-sn11rg-714ch-770w-dol…

Sourced from LG where to buy:
          https://www.lg.com/au/sound-bars/lg-SN11RG#pdp_where

Interesting it's AUD $1,690 when the USD price is $1,699.99. Is this another OzBargain deal worth posting separately?
EDIT: AUD RRP seems confirmed to be $1899.00 based on another Australian supplier. Pleasantly surprised it's close to USD price.

@Canberran: Yep, when I contact LG\videopo, they advised me that the stock is due to arrive around mid May for 2020 model and this includes the price of rears which has 2 upfiring speakers too (old model speakers doesn't). This model is suppose to rival the Samsung Q90R and the likes with Atmos and DTSX support. Main difference is the hdmi 2.1 and the AI built in with calibration modes. As the time goes on, the price probably will be around $1000 mark

            • @krish955: Currently have the SL10YG with seperate rear. However as I commented below, very disappointed in the rears.

Sort of tempted to see if this will perform any better…

Thanks for updating on your contact with the reps!

@krish955: Built in Chromecast, too. But agree I'd like to see a real life experience with it - upward firing Atmos seems to be a bit hit and miss

              • @y2k: I have the SL10YG with Chromecast built in :) But never felt an "oomph" from the Atmos like they seem to in the YouTube demos…

                • @Canberran: Ah, I was contrasting with the Samsung Q90R

Probably worth considering adding the rear speakers too

    • I have this bar with those speakers, and honestly the rear speakers are so soft I don't think they are worth it (may have a dud pair?)

Have you upped the volume? Used the iOS app, it’s heaps better for adjusting settings, unsure if you can do it on the soundbar.

I have yes. They just sound like mirroring the audio rather than providing that "audio immersion" I was hoping for…

          • @Canberran: I've had troubles getting proper surround to work with arc.

If I plug my Bluray player directly into the HDMI input on the soundbar, I get proper surround with the rears, rather than the mirroring that you get otherwise.

            • @Phreakuency: I have this soundbar with the rear speakers. I run my Xbox One X directly into the soundbar via HDMI for Dolby Atmos. The rears are defintely worth the coin IMO.

Just watched The Rise of Skywalker on Disney+ and the Atmos surround sound was incredible.

@Ge3ks: Yep agreed, great when connected properly to rears.

Just not so good if you have multiple inputs because proper surround sound only seems to work when a device is plugged directly into the bar.

                • @Phreakuency: Weird, I'm playing content direct from TV. Maybe they aren't positioned all that great?

        • @Canberran interesting. Playing direct with apps on TV, had no issues. Haven't noticed with the Apple TV through HDMI on TV.

Had considered whether ARC was the best way to connect the soundbar, but with optical it won't match power states.

Have also had random issues where the soundbar will turn back on after being turned off with the TV, but think that might be related to hass.io.

            @KablammoNick: @KablammoNick I've just started dabbling in hass.io myself :)

            • +1

              @Canberran: Uh oh. It’s a slippery slope!

              • @KablammoNick: Send help!

                • +1

@Canberran: Haha. Off the top of my head… some lessons learned… brace for stream-of-consciousness…

                  • Don't waste your time running it on a RPi. I'm now using one of those USFF i5's that pop up on here regularly for <$200, running dedicated. Makes a world of difference to speed. I think you have to restart less with the current versions but previously nearly every config change needed one, and the Pi3 I had took 3-4 minutes every time. It also eats SD cards if you have History or Logger on because of the DB writes.
                  • Establish early what you actually want to achieve - I started off wanting to automate ALL THE THINGS. Now pretty much scaled back to just a nice interface for the existing Hue lighting (which the GF controls with Siri anyway), a bunch of environmental sensors (Xiaomi temp/window/door), display weather station data, and an intermediary between Google/Siri and stuff that doesn't have it direct.
                  • Remember the difference between 'proper' Automation and just an easier way to control. I have maybe ONE barely-proper-automation routine (turning off the outdoor lights at dawn - when I'm on nights the GF leaves them on for security). The rest is more convenience programming - using hass.io as the intermediary between Xiaomi Zigbee devices and Google Home / Siri… and stupid shit like having a timer countdown that I can ask how long until next holiday, or what colour bin goes out this week. The reality is, proper automation is complex to setup, and completely doesn't work with two shiftworkers in the house!
                  • This might depend on how your brain works, but I regret not documenting EVERYTHING as I went along and added stuff. I've got a bunch of sensors in hassio that I have no idea where they actually are, because of how zigbee2mqtt records stuff (and old versions of hassio didn't have Areas… and my screwups) it can be a pest to identify which is which if you don't rename them or record which serial numbers are where. I also neglected a heap for a while so they went flat. I'm now going back and making spreadsheets and flow diagrams of how I want to get stuff to interact - eg notifications of door/window openings onto the TV, but having to first go back and find the serial numbers of every sensor, is now a lot easier when I can copypasta them out of Excel. Listing from within hassio is not impossible but not always practical.

For almost everything else, the hassio forums and to a lesser extend the Discord, are brilliant resources.

Probably shouldn't have had that second double shot coffee this morning.

  • Very good soundbar at a good price. I believe this is the cheapest. Tempted but will wait for new version to match my c9 to match hdmi 2.1 support

    • The new version will cost so much more than this so will not be a deal in the same way as this is. It's not comparable.

      • Confirmed in above comments to be AUD $1,690 w/ rear speakers and arrive mid May.

  • +1

You are not going to go wrong at that price. Snap it up quickly. Made by Meridian and originally close to three times the price.

  • This is quite a long sound bar.
Just pointing this out as it's best suited to 65inch+ TVs.

  • Pity it is (or was, I gave up) impossible to get the TK10 Mount for these so they fit nicely under a C8 OLED :(

  • anyone have the LG SJ7 320W? it's 280 on Jb hifi worth it for pc to watch movies and music?

  • Looks like SK10Y not available anymore on JB Website. Is LG SK9Y good value at $560? I was considering that or the Sonos Beam.

    • To be honest, at that price look into the Polk magnifi mini @500. The reviews are very good. If you need surround speakers, eBay have a refurb Polk magnifi max with surrounds for $650. These are not Atmos but the reviews are excellent. If you want excellent sound at $200 jbhifi had the TCL TS 7010 . It's now gone up to $300 but maybe you can price match for Betta electrical price $195.

  • Not quite as good but if you're still keen, $880 at Videopro , though an open box special https://www.videopro.com.au/p-13342-lg-sl10yg-soundbar-open-…
