Quality Cheap Mechanical Keyboard?

I've just upgraded my setup and I think it's time to upgrade from my old CM Storm (non-rgb :( ) mechanical keyboard.

Budget: Anything below 130~

I've seen that kogan has some kogan branded ones for $50, however after researching - they don't seem too good.

I was thinking maybe this:

Last time I bought a keyboard I got it from Eb Games near Christmas (honestly, mad sale this time around).

I've purchased one for work and replaced the keys, both from Aliexpress. Decent for a budget keyboard and better than the work one.

    • Thoughts on a TKL keyboard?

      • Tenkeyless? not for me personally. Better to have it and not need it than need it and not have it.

Umart have the G613 for $125. I haven't used it myself but it gets alright reviews.

Do you ever use a numpad? If you're like me and never touch it, TKL is fine.

Cannot fault the G613 except for its lack of RGB.
The Logitech G915 Lightspeed is over $300 and not worth the premium.

The Coolermaster looks like a branded version of one of those $50-and-under Chinese Kogan keyboards.
I've got one of the Chinese ones still in the box, unused, as I really enjoy using my G613 on my lap in bed with my PC right next to me.

  • For that price Corsair TKL is pretty nice.

Floating design (=you can clean it properly when removing keys), the keys float on an aluminium slab which is very solid. Cherry MX switches.

Kogan one has been going strong for a year now for me. I'd recommend it.

Same - no issues with the Kogan (brown switch)

      • I was looking at that, but some reviews turned me off. What do you like about it?

        • Responsive keys that aren't too loud, minimal branding/design and was $39. Haven't had any issues so far except for the springs which softly "ring" a bit - would say it's built quite well. (Just checked the reviews, it's pretty much what i've said)

        • I've got a TKL brown Kogan I use too (for travel), yes, it's not my Model M but I still was impressed for the price

  • I got a tecware phantom for $70. Seems pretty decent and solid. Customisable RGB & other key functions, has software to program them. I got the browns, but I'd probably get the reds next time as I thought the browns would be quieter. Uses Outemu switches. Comes in 87 and 104 keys.

    • I'll look it up!
Where did you snag it from?

      • Ebay. I think it was from mwave.

    • wish u cud get the 96 key in aus :(

  • Logitech G512 or G413 used to be below 130 before COVID (even below 100). I got my 512 for 110 about 3 months ago and pretty happy. They are around 150 now in MWave (https://www.mwave.com.au/searchresult?button=go&w=Logitech+G…).
