ADVICE on a (hopefully free) way to edit PDF files, just to add text, to fill out forms

Hi,
This may seem like a stupid question, probably is, but I'm not savvy in this area.

I have forms to fill out, which are PDF files.

I'd like to do this on my PC , and return them, rather and print and scan etc. (don't have a printer)

I have Microsoft Office 10, so maybe I'm just missing something simple there?

Are there any programs that will allow me to edit the PDF on my PC, essentially just add text, to fill out the forms?
Or is there a way to do this with Office?

:s

I just tried this on a password protected pdf and it didn't work.

Maybe try pdf exchange. Their free editor may work, hopefully it won't add a watermark.

        Good luck OP.

I'm assuming you are not on a Mac, Preview on a Mac makes it usually quite easy to type into a document whether it's set up that way or not. I know you said PC, but I've heard people use that as a generic term for all computers.

I assume the PDF is not set up for fill and sign? Otherwise you should usually be able to do it in Adobe Acrobat by going to the Fill & Sign tool.

I'd strongly recommend foxit too. I've been using it for years.

I just had this question a few weeks ago, and was scouring the web for a solid solution. Unfortunately, PDF editing is one of those lucrative markets, so there aren't any free solutions (other than Preview.app on macOS as mentioned above). However, I came across PDF-Xchange, which lets you access all the editing features in demo mode (i.e. watermarks the document). However! I discovered a workaround: instead of saving the edited document, just print to PDF after typing it all up. Works like a charm :)

Use Adobe and then the fill & sign option. It allows you to complete the forms using text and align to the predefined text boxes and even upload a scanned signature.

      It is NOT free

  • +3

    Adobe Reader
    PDF-XChange Editor - Free edition
Sejda PDF Desktop - free edition is limited to 3 documents per day as I remember

  • +2

Adobe Reader DC (free) and choose the fill and sign option
It's different to the standard Adobe reader

  • No need for any "special" PDF program

You can fill out forms on any FREE one

Some free ones consider (with links)
