And I hate to break it to you, but some don't like carriers ;)

    Certainly worth highlighting

    Girlfriend is expecting

Isn't that supposed to be "we are expecting"? In it's current form, it sounds like you had nothing to do with it.

I second what Spack said. None of my kids were fans of being in a baby carrier. The missus used a wrap with the youngest one and he loved snuggling up against her.

"Isn't that supposed to be "we are expecting"? In it's current form, it sounds like you had nothing to do with it."

Not until the DNA results are received.

  • This looks like something Vin Diesel (aka Mark) would wear over his trademark singlet in the next baby action movie.

    • Too cheap for Vin.
      This is more his scene

      • Got a LilleBaby. It's awesome.

        Wish I had this instead.

  • Definitely another vote for the wrap. Heaps cheaper.
We thought a carrier would be great (and more manly for me) but we only used it a handful of times. Ours grew out of it - was walking at about 9 months so wanted to walk everywhere or would prefer the pram.

Also the dropped prices would be part of their 48 hour frenzy that ends tomorrow. Full list here…C&C might save you a few bucks if you can't get free shipping.

  • I got ergo baby and it worth every money I spent as my baby was having problem sleeping. Using ergo baby was the only way my baby would had his naps

  • Any chance someone can give some feedback on this product? We are expecting our first born later in the year.

Infasecure Luxi II Caprice 0 To 8 Years Mini Swirl Black

We've got a LilleBaby Complete All Seasons. It's a great way to cart around our little one - 10 months old and counting.

Downsides: My partner has difficulty getting all the straps adjusted right when "saddling up". They try to make it easy with little tags on the straps, but you still need to be a bit flexible to reach them all.

Upside: Once you are in, it's very comfortable and has great back support. It's convertible (something like 6 different ways of carrying bub), but we have only used front carry. Our bub loves it, but as mentioned above your milage may vary - each bub is different.

My advice - go in store if you get the opportunity and try them all on - added bonus, bring a friend with a bub and see if they let you try them with a bub on-board, see how you like them all. Or maybe it's worth waiting until after yours is born and go in to try them out. I suspect our bub likes the carrier as we started her on it early and gave her lots of opportunity to get use to it.

Happy to answer any other questions you may have about the carrier or buying bub stuff in general.

      • Sorry i was asking about the Infasecure Luxi II Caprice 0 To 8 Years Mini Swirl Black Car Seat that is on sale hahahaha

        • +1

          My bad.

But I can tell you (a little bit) about the Luxi II also. In April I purchased (directly from Infasecure) an Infasecure Everest for $199 - it was on clearance at the time. First thing to know is the Luxi II Caprice is exactly the same seat as the Everest - only with different coloured fabric. The Everest was a BigW Exclusive the Luxi II is a Baby Bunting exclusive. Generally Baby Bunting charges inflated RRP on this seat $479 - not likely. To pick it up for $239 isn't a bad deal.

          Other things to note:

Being a 0-8 year old convertible seat it's fairly large - you won't fit it easily in the back of a Golf. You can bring your car to Baby Bunting and get them to test fit it - see if it does fit in the car - mounted rear facing and forwards. Try sitting next to it - see how wide it is. We purchased it as a second, spare seat to go in the Grandparents (big) SUV for the odd occasion when bub goes for a sleepover. Think if you want a single seat to last 8 years - baby car seats get grotty pretty quickly (from spit ups, snotty noses, rusks that bub might be chewing on, etc).
Infasecure is an Australian company, so it's great to support them.I believe some other car seat companies have crash replacement guarantees (the seat should be destroyed if you car is impacted seriously), Infasecure doesn't have this guarantee.

This seat doesn't have ISOFix - important to note. I've found ISOFix is a great way to secure the seat - feel much more secure than threading the belt through the base of the seat. But I don't know of any 0-8 seats that DO have ISOFix - there might be a weight limit on this method of securing the seat - I haven't looked into it in detail.

Only other point to note, if you can find the Everest at BigW cheaper, buy it.

@NinjaChicken: Cheers for such an in-depth review. Very helpful. All of this baby stuff is very overwhelming, it is crazy. I have a Ford Ranger so I am sure the seat will fit. I will check out the Everest seat.

    • I can't comment on that seat (excellent review seems to take care of it anyway) but here's a few pointers from my opinion

Get the best ERF seat you can afford and fit in your car. Keep them rear facing as long as possible.

Don't get hung up on ISOFIX. A properly installed lap/sash style will be just as safe. Most places can install them for you and show you how to do it properly so you can swap it between cars yourself.
Pretty sure ISOFIX is limited to 35kg including the seat.

Get one that is easily adjustable without having to rethread the straps.

Definitely test fit if you can. Some seats might sit awkwardly on your rear seat base, if you put it behind the passenger seat, the front seat may also need to go a fair way forward.

Make sure full replacement cost is on your insurance. I think that is better than the manufacturer replacing the seat. Some insurance companies will cap it at say $500 which is no good if your seat is worth $700+ (don't count the sale price as if you have a crash, it may not be on sale again). Ours will replace the full seat even with a minor bingle.

For what it's worth, we went with the Grandeur. We like it so much we've got 3 of them (all at different times and never paid anywhere near RRP). The slim design is well worth it if you're planning on having a second one, as well as putting the seat in the middle of the car rather than on the side.

  • Got one! Thanks
